~Amelia~

"I can't believe it," I remarked as Levi and I approached the pair of horses, calmly nibbling on the grass below their hooves as if they hadn't almost been trampled to death by rogue Titans. To the side of them, one of our wagons remained somewhat intact among the wreckage that was once our camp. Miraculously, it was missing only a wheel, which we were able to relocate quickly. After that, we searched for anything else useful that might have survived. With the Jeagerists on our tails, we didn't know how long it would be before we could get fresh supplies.

Unfortunately, Levi and I didn't find much by the time we finished our hunt. We had already been running low before this ordeal, and what was left had been clobbered by Titan feet. Regardless, I wasn't too worried. Years of living outside the Walls had sharpened my survival skills, so I was confident I could keep both of us alive for as long as necessary.

Peeking over my shoulder as I fiddled with the horses' harnesses, I spotted a still-unconscious Zeke on the ground. Copious amounts of steam evaporated off his body as his lost limbs gradually regenerated themselves. It was only a matter of time before he woke up, and I had no idea how to go about dealing with him. It was apparent how Levi wanted to, though.

"And what do we need that for?" I asked Levi with narrowed eyes.

A few paces in front of me, Levi harboured a thunder spear almost the same height as him. Upon hearing my voice, he stopped in his tracks and faced me. "We needed a way to get information out of Zeke, and this is my solution. Plus, none of Eren's fan club will risk trying to take Zeke from us if they risk getting themselves blown to pieces."

Carefully leaning the thunder spear on the wagon, Levi dragged Zeke over and threw him over the side.

"Levi, this is crazy. What if something goes wrong, and we're the ones that get blown up?" I exclaimed as I jumped into the wagon and placed the few remaining boxes of supplies inside.

Grabbing the thunder spear again, Levi carefully climbed into the front seat beside me. "I don't see you coming up with anything better. Besides, I've dealt with enough scumbags to know how to get what I need out of them."

Sensing that I couldn't change Levi's mind, I relented, "If you say so. But I'm not going anywhere near that thing."

"Fine, you drive then." Levi jutted his head towards the horses.

Pressing my lips together, I threw Levi a glare before turning my back to him and snapping the reins.

Zeke finally stirred as the sun hung low over the mountains. At the sound of his groans, I halted the horses so Levi and I could give him our full attention.

A thunder spear stuck out of Zeke's stomach like a skewer. Tied around his neck was its trigger, and his arms were restricted by rope to stop him from undoing it. His arms and legs had grown back, but his face and torso still lacked any skin. Despite the grotesque nature of the scene, what shocked me more was how different Zeke appeared before me now from the domineering, sly Zeke who had sat across me at the fire a few days ago.

"Are you awake?" Levi questioned as a groan rumbled out of Zeke's throat.

Languidly, Zeke's eyes opened in succession. He tensed up when he saw Levi crouching before him.

"Oi, wait. Don't move," Levi asserted, causing Zeke to freeze instantly. "I've connected the thunder spear's fuse to the wire around your neck. Any movement, and it'll detonate. You'll probably end up in two pieces, to say the least."
