~Amelia~
As soon as we returned to the cottage, I went straight to Eren. With Mikasa and Jean's help, we lifted him all the way to his bed. From there, I was able to better care for him. On my first day here, I found an emergency med kit in the house so I could quickly locate it in case of an emergency such as this.
I cleaned and disinfected his wounds, then bandaged him up again. Most of the blood had dried, but his healing was slower than usual, likely due to exhaustion. Eren needed rest, and I would do my best to make him take some before Levi and Hange returned from Trost.
"How is he?" Mikasa came up from behind me, offering me a cup of tea. I blew the steam off the top, taking a large, enthusiastic gulp.
"Thanks, I needed that. He's doing much better. He seems to be recovering properly, so I don't think there's any need to worry about him." I tried to console her, even though I knew she would continue to fret regardless.
"Thank you for treating him," she said quietly, taking a seat at the foot of his bed with a despondent smile. She loved him, no matter how much Eren tried to ignore it. I hoped that one day, her feelings would be reciprocated.
"It's no problem. I have to put all this medical knowledge to good use," I chuckled, reminiscing about my past self, who had studied so hard to pass my exams.
"Where did you learn about it?" I raised my eyebrows in surprise, looking at her. Mikasa had never initiated a conversation with me before. I had always thought she hated me based on the looks she used to give. I couldn't blame her; she was just being cautious about potential threats.
"Back at home, I studied medicine in hopes of becoming a doctor."
"Why didn't you finish?" Mikasa asked, glancing over at me and taking her eyes off Eren.
"I had other obligations. It wasn't my choice," I replied, turning my gaze away from Mikasa, not wanting to dwell on my life back on Earth. I had come to terms with the fact that I might never return home, but that didn't make it easier to discuss.
"I understand. Sorry for pressing you. I've just never met anyone like me apart from my mother," Mikasa clarified, nervously twiddling her fingers. I had forgotten that there were no other Asian people within the Walls outside of Mikasa. Seeing me, someone similar to herself must have been a shock.
"I'd love to answer your questions another time. Talking about my home is painful, as I miss it dearly," I told her, feeling a wave of sadness wash over me. I try not to think about it too often." Even though it seemed like all I had done since I came to the Walls was think of my old life, forming new connections only reminded me of my previous ones.
"I see," she said, looking back at Eren.
"I should probably get going. I'm absolutely filthy after everything that happened." I needed to get rid of a funky smell clinging to me. "I'll return after dinner to check on Eren again. You should join us to help prepare."
"Maybe, we'll see."
----------
Two days had passed, and Eren had made significant progress in his recovery. Yesterday, he insisted that he felt fine and tried to convince me to let him out of bed. However, I insisted that he stay there for one more day. He didn't realize it, but he truly needed the extra rest. With the immense pressure of saving humanity weighing on him, he was close to breaking. Nevertheless, he was smiling much more this morning and peeled potatoes with impressive speed. Clearly, he was feeling better after all the rest he had gotten.
Eren, Historia, and I were assigned to prepare dinner tonight. In fact, I took on dinner duty every night because I was the best cook. With all the knowledge I had from the 21st century, I knew how to season food properly.
