"WHERE'S SIOUX FALLS?"

"It's in South Dakota, it's not too far from here. That's where Jody lives."

It was the morning after the storm, and they were still left without power. The house had become too hot for their own comfort, and they were planning an escape.

"Jody said we could stay with her for a few days, that gives you some time to meet her and the girls."

"Does that mean I'll be able to hear about you? Your life?" She asked him.

"If you really want to, but truly, my life isn't that fascinating. It would keep most people up at night. . . It keeps me up at night."

Astra frowned. "Why?"

Sam was packing a few drinks into a small cooler for their trip. "I'll tell you later, all right? Also, I already got your bag in the car."

She nodded. "Okay."

He slung the cooler over his shoulder. He whistled for Miracle, and the dog came running through the house.

"Road trip, buddy." He told the dog. Miracle rushed towards the door, waiting for the two.

"All right, I think we got everything we need. Are you ready to head out?"

She nodded. "Yeah."

On the way there, Astra took the opportunity to look over the state as they drove through. Miracle sat in her lap, the dog's tongue flailing as he stuck his head out of the window of the Impala. Astra stared out at the mountains in the distance, watching as the sun spread across the fields. Earth was beautiful.

"It makes me wonder what my world looked like." Astra said as Sam drove.

"Thousands of marble water fountains and magical harps." He grinned. Astra laughed.

"Probably."

When they pulled into Jody's driveway, the woman was already walking out of the house and down the stairs, grinning widely. Sam got out first, and he accepted Jody's large, bear-like hug.

"Oh, it's so good to see you!" She shouted as she squeezed him tightly. "Don't ever wait this long to come see me again, please."

"Sorry, Jody. It's just. . . I'm trying."

The woman smiled sympathetically. "I know you are. And I'm here for you. Always."

Astra slid out of the car and watched as Miracle jumped down onto the ground. The dog barked as he ran towards Sam and Jody, and the woman called him.

"Such a good boy!"

The woman stayed beside the car, her nerves rattled. She didn't know what Jody was going to think about her.

Sam turned around and motioned for her to come to him, and she walked slowly. Once she was standing beside Sam, Jody stood up and looked at her.

"You must be the fallen goddess of lightning." The woman grinned. There was no sugar coating anything with the kind-hearted woman. "I'm Jody."

"Astra. It's really nice to meet you, Jody."
"You, too. And don't be afraid here. You're safe. If Claire makes you feel otherwise, I'll kick her ass myself."
