TWO MONTHS LATER

"SAM? SAM, SAM!"

Stirring awake, Sam hurried and propped himself up on his elbows as Astra shook his arm to wake him. The woman was still in her pajamas, but she appeared wide awake.

"What is it, what's wrong?" Sam asked, rubbing his face tiredly. He glanced over at the clock and scoffed. "You're up at seven am? Who are you?"

The woman began tugging the blankets, trying to free them from his practically-cocooned body. "I got to show you something, get up. Get up, get up." She purposely dragged the word out as she tried tugging harder. Sam chuckled at her defeat, and he shifted on the bed before freeing the blankets. He tossed them over her head, and she huffed.

"I'm up, see?" He asked. "Where'd Astra go? Miracle, did you eat her?"

She tossed the blankets off and grabbed his arm. "I'll drag you."

Sam stood to his feet and allowed the woman to pull him out of the room. She guided him down the hall, and he came to a stop in the living-room.

"Surprise!"

There was an entire breakfast covering the kitchen island, and there was a small box on the table with a red bow.

"Happy Birthday, Sam!"

Sam entered the kitchen and scoffed. "How did you know?"

"Eileen, she came by early this morning before her hunting trip. Told me a few weeks ago. She helped me cook."

Sam noticed the empty wrapping of the vegetarian bacon. "You really went all out."

She smiled. "Well, you deserve it. And much more."

He looked down at her as he tasted the crispy bacon. "Thank you, really."

"And I got you this, with the "hacked credit card" you gave me."

She reached for the small box and handed it to Sam. Laughing, he untied the ribbon and opened it. It was a Men's Swiss silver watch.

"I know you needed a new one." She told him. Sam pulled the heavy watch out, and he stared at it in shock.

"A, it's amazing." Sam told her. "You didn't have to do all of this."

"I know, but I wanted to." She said. "Sam, you deserve the world. Not that it's sunshine and roses all the time."

He grinned. "I get what you mean."

Astra clapped her hands together. "Eat up, before it gets cold! Eileen said Happy Birthday, by the way."

"I'll message her later and thank her." He said, grabbing another piece of bacon. "The bacon was a good add, by the way."

"I learned some stuff about you, including your love for that bacon."

Astra grabbed a fork and a plate as she began getting her own food. "So, I was gonna ask you if there was anything you wanted to do today."

Sam grabbed a napkin. "Uh, I mean, I haven't really thought about it."

She shrugged. "There's a festival in downtown Lebanon, nothing too big considering the city's population. And no; there are no clowns."
