Vanya had always been somewhat pale. Living in northeastern America had her intimately familiar with heat and humidity, however, there were precious few sunny, cloudless days. But when the weather was warm, she always seemed to tan faster than most others. She couldn't wait until spring became summer here. The girl had read that Japanese summers were warmer than anything she would have experienced in the States. Maybe she would take up sunbathing and get a nice bronze. Vanya had always liked warm weather, even when she had to run drills during it at the Academy because warm weather meant the days were long and the nights were shorter. She never liked the uninterrupted dark that nights would bring, with the Academy being so far away from any cities or other sources of light.

She had taken off the wristband after her conversation with Hayashi had irritated her and made her acutely aware of the uncomfortable cloth pressing against her pulse point. The pale strip of skin where her wrist band normally was contrasted sharply with the slight tan of the rest of her. Vanya rubbed at it, the tattoo was important to cover for the sake of keeping her identity hidden but Vanya would prefer to not wear her wristband.

Still, she valued her privacy over her comfort and continued to wear it.

The pair had fallen into silence after talking about Eos Lofts apparent high standing among society's elite, and they stayed that way until they reached the bustling metropolitan area of central Musutafu, the city UA was located and where Vanya would live for the next couple of years.

The girl noted that it wasn't too different from what she had experienced in the previous city she had lived in, busy streets, sky-high buildings, and crowded sidewalks seemed to be the staple of all big cities. The noise wasn't as harsh as when she first stepped foot into a big city as she had gotten used to an increased level of ambient noise by living in the heart of her previous bustling city.

The truck pulled onto a side street and parked in front of what looked like a really dull office. The building had no visible logos detailing what it was and the walls were painted a drab muted grey color. However, across the street, there was a building that seemed to have nothing but windows that shone brightly even in the dim light of the setting sun. She squinted her eyes and turned away from the glare. The building was not what she expected from the famed Eos Lofts, she was sure there would be more security of multiple checkpoints in order to enter and a flashy sign but she would not judge yet. After all, if it was really that famous, the building manager would not spare any expense on security.

Vanya slipped on her wristband and made a move to get out of the truck, wondering why Hayashi parked across the street from the shiny building so they would have to use the crosswalk to reach it, when the man held out a hand in a 'stop' motion.

She paused, waiting for him to say something as she scanned the area around them but when she found nothing to be cautious of, the girl whispered harshly, "What? "

She was really getting sick of Hayashi's dramatic antics.

The man was typing on his phone and when a responding ding! came from it, he pocketed the item and stepped out of the truck, walking around it and opening Vanya's door.

As she stepped down from the vehicle, she gave him a look, "Are you going to tell me what that was about?"

Hayashi glanced at the shining building then at the office before leaning in close to her ear, "I had to make sure I let them know we were coming, if we walked in without doing that, we'd be tackled and restrained immediately."

"Maybe you would be but in case you forgot, I know how to fight." Vanya pointed out.

The man gave her a look, "I don't doubt it, but they do not mess around when it comes to unexpected intruders. If you fought back, you would likely be tased and arrested."
