On the same day, on the other side of Lake Roccaluce, the school for witches across the dimension was also open for admissions.
On this particular day, two young witches came to tour the building, not to enroll, just to tour. This practice is allowed during the admission process, however...
"Sisters, are you sure you want to go to this dump?"
These particular witches were part of a coven with two wizards, one of which is notorious among dark magic users.
"Sulfus! If you destroy the place, we'll never get in!" One witch pouted, fixing the damage the boy caused in the middle of the field.
The headmaster watched them from within the tower, smirking to herself.
"Cabiria, I understand that you think this is the best witch school there is, but come on." Sulfus rolled his eyes, skeptical of the school itself.
"We're sure, Sulfus. This is our dream school, we'll become the most powerful witches ever!" Kabale grinned, and nearly hovering towards the building.
Sulfus clicked his teeth, following the girls with their friend Gas tailing behind them.
The hierarchy of their group is Gas in the lowest position, being the youngest and weakest of the four of them, Kabale being third, not because she's weaker than Cabiria, but because Cabiria is more cunning, they switch between second and third due to that, and Sulfus, the oldest and most powerful of their group, always at the head.
All of them are cruel and ruthless sorcerers and sorceresses.
"Wow, sister. This place looks so nasty, I love it! It's so dark- oh is that a spider! I love spiders!" Cabiria was over the moon with joy, and so was her sister, who was peeking into every classroom they passed on the way to the headmaster's office.
Gas split from the group because he got hungry, and frankly, he wasn't about to wait for the girls to start squealing about their dream school again. He could not take much more of that. "Hm... Cafeteria is this way. See ya."
Sulfus nodded. "Be back before we head to Red Fountain."
Gas shrugged, going is own way.
Cabiria rolled her eyes. "He as a stomach where his brain should be."
"I believe it." Kabale snickered.
The three of them met with the Headmistress, who welcomed them with a devious smile. The girls took to her immediately and Sulfus was fine with the school after hearing an explanation of the curriculum.
It was more than perfect for the two witches. Unfortunately.
Sulfus let them stay and explore while he went to check out the school Gas wanted to attend, Red Fountain. He used to want to go as well, but found it strange that no student there was using magic, or became a wizard.
Seriously, it's a school that claims to teach guardians and wizards, but there are only guardian knights, and no guardian wizards, except the headmaster.
Red flag? Maybe, but no one else was worried about it, so why should he be?
Sulfus took the portal to Red Fountain without Gas because he was likely stuffing his face. The trip there was as quick as a blink, and man was it packed by the time he arrived.
Princes and knights everywhere for absolutely no reason, it was obvious who was returning and who was new, it was written on their faces. Besides that, it was entirely too bright.
"Ugh, how could Gas go here? It's so... Cheerful." He gagged, walking around campus just to get a feel of it. It had a decent alarm system, magical barrier, even some teachers roaming around to keep order, nothing eye-catching, until there was.
A strand of purple fluttering in the wind, then another, and in the corner of his eye, Sulfus saw a fairy, not just any fairy. A fairy with hair that gleamed like stars, and eyes containing every perfect crystal in the magic dimension.
She didn't notice him, because she was talking to someone else. She held a flower like it was the most delicate thing, and smiled flawlessly, like it was planned.
He forgot how to breathe for all of four seconds. When he came back to his senses, she was gone. He had never been a moment where just looking at a person could stun him into silence.
"...I must be losing it." He mumbled to himself, holding his hand on his chest to calm his racing heart. "There's no way..."
There was no way.
