"Allison, answering your cell phone will make discussing the terms of your grounding much easier," Chris said as he and Victoria walked out of the school.  "Well, call me back before your punishment reaches biblical proportions."

"Kate hasn't heard from her either," Victoria said.

"She doesn't do this," Chris stated, not entirely believing what he had just said.

"Excuse me," Melissa called to their left, "you're not Allison's parents, are you?  I'm Scott's mom, and I hate to say it, but he's not answering his phone either."

            "You're his mother?" Chris scoffed.

"Funny how you say that like it's an accusation," Melissa answered.

"Well, I wouldn't claim it as a source of pride, since he basically kidnapped my daughter today," Chris snapped.

"How do we know skipping school wasn't your daughter's idea?"

"My daughter..." Chris's glare softened in relief when he saw Allison and Scott getting out of the car behind Melissa.  He sighed.  "...is right there."

Melissa glanced behind her.  The sight of her son eased her, but also made her angrier.  She swiftly made her way in front of him as the Argents followed slowly.

"Where exactly have you been?" she demanded.

            "Nowhere, Mom," Scott answered.

            "Nowhere, meaning not at school."

            "Kind of."

"It's not his fault," Allison said.  "It's my birthday, and we were..."

"Allison," Chris called.  "In the car."

Before she could answer, a girl screamed from the parking lot.  Everyone started to quickly move towards their vehicles.

Scott's mind immediately thought of the Alpha, but the scent he was smelling was unfamiliar.  He moved towards the middle of the parking lot, trying to see exactly what everyone was so afraid of.

Chris pulled a handgun out of his red minivan.

A growl sounded from nearby, causing Scott's eyes to glow yellow.  The honking of a car horn distracted him.  Looking to his right, he saw a white sedan driving quickly towards Allison.  She stood completely still in the middle of the lane with widened eyes.

"Allison!" Scott yelled, running towards her.  Grabbing her waist, he pulled her out of the way as the car drove by.  "Are you okay?"

Allison nodded, breathing heavily through her mouth.

The animal growled again.  Sheriff Stilinski caught sight of the animal that has been terrorizing his town.

"Move!  Move!" he demanded, chasing after it, but his pursuit was cut short by the rear-end of a car bumping into him.  Someone helped him off the ground.  Stilinski pulled a pistol from its holster on his ankle just as gunshots rang out into the night.

Chris Argent lowered his weapon as everyone stood still.  Some people walked slowly towards the spot he shot at.

Scott, Chris, Allison, Victoria, and Melissa gathered around the dead mountain loin with a bullet hole in its side.

Allison glanced at the gun in her father's hand and took a step back.

Scott looked at Chris, his heart beating through his chest.  He couldn't help but imagine himself lying motionless on the pavement with a wolfsbane bullet lodged in his heart.
