Jackson placed his hands on the side of the sink in the boys' locker room. Looking at his reflection in the mirror, he was terrified. Dark circles framed his green eyes and sweat dripped down his face and neck. He groaned as every inch of his skin left like it was burning. He unbuttoned his shirt and slid it off. Grabbing the gauze that covered his wound on the back of his neck, Jackson ripped it off. Blood covered the material. Bile rose in his throat as he started to gag. It felt like something was crawling up his throat. Two clawed inhuman fingers stuck out of his open mouth, muffling his screams.
Jackson inhaled and glanced up into the mirror and saw nothing. He panted as he wiped his mouth, making sure there wasn't anything there. He stood, leaning against the sink, believing that he has officially gone crazy.

Jackson stumbled through the halls of the high school until he found the person he was looking for.
Allison sat with her legs crossed on the floor, reading one of her books.
"Where are you reading?" Jackson asked, startling Allison.
"Oh, hey. Uh..." Allison glanced up at him. "Just stuff for a history project."
Jackson hummed, sliding his bag off his shoulders, and sitting down next to her.
Allison took a deep breath, feeling nervous. "Did you have a free period, or..."
"No, I just don't like sitting through Chem," Jackson replied.
Allison laughed and said: "Understandable." Looking at her book, she sighed. "Did...did you want something?"
"Actually, yeah. I wanted to talk. I realize that I've been a jerk to you. And especially to Scott. And I wanted to say that I'm sorry."
Allison widened her eyes.
"I'm serious," Jackson said.
"Okay, I...I believe you're being serious, but I'm not so sure I believe you're being sincere," Allison said.
Jackson sighed heavily and said: "Do you know what it's like to be the best player on the team? To be the star? To have every single person at the game chanting your name? And then...some kid...some kid just comes along, and then everyone starts looking at him instead of you. Do you know what that feels like?"
Allison looked into Jackson's sad eyes.
"No, I don't," she said, her voice quiet.
"Well, it feels like something's been...it feels like something's been stolen from you. And then you start to feel like you'd do anything...anything in the world to get it back."
"Haven't you ever learned there's no 'I' in 'team'?" Allison said, smiling.
"Yeah, but the is a 'me,'" Jackson snapped.
Allison's shoulders stiffened as her gaze fell to her lap.
Jackson chuckled and said: "That was a joke."
They both laughed nervously.
"You must really, really hate me," Jackson stated.
