Chapter 5
It was 2:45, I had put the address in my GPS that is hooked up in my car. I looked at Kaleb through the rearview mirror, looked so excited.
He hasn't had a sleep over in over 2 years. We were on the move so much I didn't want him to get attached to anyone to much, because I knew we were going to have to leave. I didn't want him to get hurt. Almost everywhere we have gone father has found us, I don't want it to happen again.
I can't let him hurt Kaleb like he used to hurt me. Up until we left I had been taking the beating for him. I had protected him his entire life. I wasn't about to stop now. I knew that the gym and the ring were not a safe place for him. I will move around as much as it takes to keep that bastard away from my baby brother.
~Flashback~
'Victoria!! Come here you little bitch." he growled from the plush lazy boy.
I ran down the stairs to get to him as soon as possible. I ran as fast as my 12 year old legs would carry me. I knew how he gets when he drinks. I stop at his feet.
"What do you need, daddy?" I ask sweetly.
"A beer and don't act all sweet, you devil child. I wish you were never born."
"Daddy, I think you should stop drinking for the night. Or you wont be able to get up stairs. Mom will have a fit." I say.
In one swift motion he takes one of his large hands and brings it across my face. I fell to the ground, but got up fast ran to the kitchen with tears threatening to fall. I grab a beer as I heard dad's phone ring. ' yes?' he grumbled. 'This is he.' he said. 'Dead?!? She cant be. How?' His voice trembled. 'Car accident?' I herd the strain in his voice. 'I will be there tomorrow.'
I herd dad get up from his chair. I see his face, I see the evil look in his eye. He picks up the closest bottle of alcohol and throws it at me. It crashes against the wall behind me.
"This is your fault. You did this. You are the reason she is dead!!!" he boomed. He stepped closer to me. I backed away, stepping on shards of glass. I felt them pierce my skin. It hurt so bad, tears were welling up in my eyes.
He flipped out his pocket knife, and lunged at me. I fell backwards and landed on the shards of glass. Dad was breaking tonight and I am going to be is punching bag.
Better me than Kaleb. Thankfully he was upstairs sleeping. Dad hit me over and over. When he felt like he was done hitting and kicking me, he started digging his pocket knife into my skin.
I had cuts all over, I thought this was the end. But no, they were not deep enough to kill me. They would just leave ugly scars. They were on my arms, my legs, my stomach and my back.
Dad was almost done. The final cut was a huge cut to my back. It started at the tip of my shoulder blade and went down to the edge of my pants.
He got up and rolled me over so I was on my back. Glass was digging into my new cuts. He walked away laughing, retiring to his bedroom. I laid there until about 4 am. Once I gathered what little strength I had left, I started to crawl to the stairs. My entire body hurt so bad. I kept my sobs low so dad wouldn't wake up. Most of the bleeding stopped except for a cut on my arm and the big cut on my back. I needed to clean my self up.
I spent half an hour getting glass out of my feet I washed the blood off of my legs and feet and put bandages and wrap around my cuts.
Time for my upper body.
I started with my arms and stomach. I slowly peeled off my tank top and looked at my self. I had a cut on my forehead, a cut lip, a black eye, and large bruise on my right cheek. I was used to it. But not this bad. I hurt all over. I was sure I had at least one broken rib. I cleaned up the front of myself, then I went for the back. I spent an hour and a half picking glass shards out of my back. After that experience I washed my self off and put wrap around my torso. It extended from my pants lining up to my armpits. I took 3 Advil and climbed into bed next to my baby brother, who was still sound asleep. I fell asleep thinking about tonight.
I thought about running away, I thought about learning how to defend myself. I need to protect Kaleb. From this day forward, I will never let anything hurt him.
~End of Flashback~
I had tears threatening to fall. I looked back at him again. I cant let anything ruin that happiness. Nothing.
A couple weeks after I healed up from that night. I looked for a gym to train at. That was when I met Killer. Don't let that name fool you, he is a big teddy bear. His real name is Dave. But at the rings we all go by our fighting names. Killer had a gym a few blocks down from my house. He saw my scars, and he quickly accepted me. He got me into the thing I love most, second to Kaleb, Street Fighting. When school starts, I can't let anyone figure out that I am a fighter.
Shit. We had school tomorrow.
I pulled in their drive way. They had a very nice house. It was like a cottage. It was a very cute home.
He hops out of my car and bounds for the door before I have time to open my door. I walk up to the house just as Shirley answers the door.
"Hi Shirley."
"Hello Tori. Hello Kaleb. Skylar is upstairs in his room. It is the first door on the right."
Kaleb ran upstairs shortly after giving me a hug.
"Shirley, I was wondering if you can give him a ride to school tomorrow. His school starts after mine and I have to find a daycare that I can drop him off that will bring him to school and..." Shirley cut me off.
"I would love to. If you'd like I could bring him to school each day. You can drop him off here in the morning, and I could take him. The school isn't very far from here."
"Thank you so much, Shirley!! And if you want I could pick the boys up after school and drop Skylar off here."
"That would be lovely. That way I could get some more cleanin' done before Chris gets home."
"Sounds like we have a deal."
"Sounds like we do."
We shook on it, I called Kaleb down and explained everything. He was really happy. I gave him a hug and kiss goodbye and left. Shit, it's almost 4 I need to get to the gym.
