Chapter 2

I awake to my Iphone alarm going off. I turn it off and roll out of bed quietly, trying not to wake Kaleb. I walk to the shower, hoping it will wake me up. I step into the heat of the water, it felt good on my fatigued muscles. I stood there for another five minutes, preparing myself for the day, then wrapped a fluffy, white towel around me. I threw on a pair of black joggers and a red tank top.

I had the apartment clean prior to the moving truck arriving. I got out the rest of our suitcases and a box for the rest of the food left in our fridge. That was the first thing I was going to do when we got there.I desperately needed to go grocery shopping. I set out clothes for Kaleb for when he woke up, and threw the rest of his in a bag with mine. We didn't have much left to pack because I had sent most of it to our new place last week. I packed up the last of his toys and games into a small kids back pack. I called Kimmi to let her know we would pick her up in 15 minutes and then we would drive back so she could get my bike. I woke up Kaleb. The kid was up and at em' in no time. I have no idea where he gets all this energy from. He jumped in the shower, and washed up. When he was done, I packed up all the toiletries in a travel bag.

Kimmi's cousin was already at the new apartment. It came unfurnished so I gave him a credit card and told him what to get. He called me a few days ago and said I was going to love it. The walls were painted, appliances were installed, our belongings had made it there safely, and he said he did a great job. Smug little bastard. Nevertheless, I was excited to see it. He had also competed my request of turning the 3rd bedroom into a workout room. He had told me there was a great gym a couple blocks away as well. I think I might like it there. Well, not the school part. But, everything else seems great. The pieces are falling into place. I hope it lasts this time.

I shut off the lights and locked up. Kaleb helped me load up the rest of our stuff into my car. I gave the key back to the land lord and told him I'd be back in 10 to get my bike. He gave Kaleb a lollipop and wished us the best. Kaleb got into his booster seat in the back. He had his backpack full of toys. We were at Kimmi's in about 5 minutes. She slid into shotgun.

"Hey Tor. My cousin wants to come visit her brother, because she never gets to see him. So she is going to be following us in her car, then I'm gonna ride back with her." "Okay, But before that we are all going to I-hop for breakfast. I'm paying. Its only 10:30, so who is up for waffles?" I got a "Me!!" in unison from everyone. We pulled out of Kimmi's, and were there in 5 minutes. She hopped on my bike, and put on the helmet. We were seated at I-hop in another 15 minutes.

We ate until we were about to explode. I paid the bill without hesitation, and left a 30 dollar tip. We were on the road. It was going to be a long drive. We had filled our tanks. Kimmi was behind me, and her cousin behind her. I was ready to start a completely new life.

We got to the apartment around 3 in the afternoon. I pulled into the below ground parking garage. I had paid previously for 2 parking spots. So Kimmi's cousin had to park on the next level for non-residents. Kaleb was in the back still sleeping. I grabbed him and carried him on my hip, with his back pack on my shoulder. Kimmi gave me my keys and helmet. I threw my helmet in my trunk and grabbed the big suitcase. Kimmi grabbed 2 duffle bags, and her cousin grabbed the box of food and a back pack. We walked into the apartment building and took the elevator to the penthouse. Yes, I'm renting the penthouse. I stepped off the elevator and knocked on the door. Kimmi's cousin James opened the door. He hugged me, and the sleeping Kaleb. He moved on hugging everyone else. "OMIGOD!!! James!! You did such a great job!" I yelled. Kaleb stirred. I looked around at the modern décor. The chandelier was beautiful. Granite countertops in the kitchen. Stainless steel appliances, huge flat screen with an Xbox setup.

I put the suitcase down, and started for Kaleb's room. "James, what room is Kaleb in?" I yelled from a long corridor. There were about 4 doors on each side. "Second door on the right, Tor." He yelled back from the living room. I opened the door that lead to Kaleb's room. I turned my body to the left, with Kaleb dangling in my arms. I flipped the switch, and stared in awe. The room was full on Batman. Including a Batman/ Gotham City mural on the walls.

His room was amazing. I was jealous. Batman is his favorite superhero. He will freak when he wakes up. I walked over to his bed, and set him down gently. I pulled the covers over him, and walked out the door.

"James, you are amazing. I could kiss you right now!" I yelled. "Okay!" He replied, puckering his lips. Kimmi slapped him in the back of the head, and we all burst out in laughter. "Who wants a beer?" James yelled as he walked into the kitchen. "Wait, I just got here. I haven't gone grocery shopping yet." I questioned. Just then he opened the refrigerator doors, displaying a fully stocked fridge. From fruits and veggies to anything unhealthy. He swung the cabinet doors open. They were fully stocked as well."OMIGOD! Thank you, James." I said excitedly. "No need to thank me, it was your credit card." He replied slyly. He took 4 bottles of Oberon from the fridge.  I grabbed a bottle and sat on a bar stool.  A few minutes pass, and I decide I'm going to explore. I have found a beautiful bathroom, there was also a bathroom off of Kaleb's room. I wonder if I will have a bathroom off of my room? I wonder were my room is? I look into the room across the hall from Kaleb's. I flip on the light. I scream at the top of my lungs. James comes running. "What is wrong, Tor?" "I love it." I yell. Jumping up on him, I wrapped my legs around him. I squeeze tightly around his neck until he pokes me in the sides, forcing me to let go. I turn back to my black, white, and blood red themed room with an attached bathroom.

It is beautiful. I can't believe it. This was absolutley amazing. I didn't even notice James walk away. I don't know how long I was standing there. I close my bedroom door, and open another. It was a little office/ library space. Ohh, somewhere to do homework. *insert sarcastic tone here* Joy.  I move on to the next door. Great place to relax my muscles after fights, cuz' I got a hot tub and sauna. I'm really going to love it here. The final room is my favorite room out of them all. My own training room. Treadmill, elliptical, 2 punching bags, 2 sets of weights, and a wall lined with mirrors.  Awesome, but I think I will checkout the gym a few blocks over too. Because nothing beats a good old fashioned sparing partner. I walk back to the kitchen. There is a note on the counter.

Tori,

Went back to James place. Hope you like it here. Have fun with your new toys.

Call me if you need me.

XOXO

Kimmi<3

Well, I guess it is time to unpack. So far I have unpacked the box of food, 3 boxes of décor, put my fighting clothes and wraps in the gym, and unpacked pictures and decorations for my room. I am utterly exhausted. Its only 7 o'clock. On a Saturday night. I have the rest of the weekend to look forward to unpacking. A sleepy eyed Kaleb walked out of his room into the kitchen. "Hey bud, do you like your new room?" I ask. "Yeah, its awesome. What is for dinner? I'm hungry, sissy." He whined. "Okay, bro. I'm making Mac and cheese. Then do you want to go on a ride around town, and checkout some stuff?" I asked, hoping he would say yes. "Yes!! I want to go to the library!!" He shouted. "Okay then the library it is." Kaleb has always loved to read, I have also. I'm sure the library is huge.

I had gotten a text, at dinner, from Killer. He said that I would be starting up at the Aces fighting ring. The boss's name is Crimson. He attached directions from my apartment to the warehouse. He concluded that I was expected there on Monday at 8, and wished me good luck.

I was super excited. After I put the dishes in the dishwasher, I ran back to my room and threw on some black skinny jeans, a green tank top, green converse, and a leather jacket. I put my phone in my zip pocket, and grabbed my keys. When I walk out to the living room I see Kaleb in his leather jacket. Awww, so cute! "You ready to go?" I question. With a big smile on his face he nodded his head dramatically.

We walk out the door, locking it behind us. We took the elevator to the parking garage and hopped on my bike and started our new life in Detroit.
