TRIGGER WARNING!

A little unexpected I guess O:)

Well... I'm not gonna say a thing here, as always, to avoid spoilers. Just read and I'm pretty sure you'll know when to check the bottom of the chapter for specifics if you feel like you should. Or just check right now if you prefer :)

I hope you will enjoy the chapter. Currently, it's the longest chapter I have ever posted. But I'm afraid there will be even longer ones down the road :D Sometimes I have trouble controlling myself.

And thank you all for your continued readership <3

Bishop and Aeyrin were all done with shopping for supplies in only a little while and they slowly returned towards the market by the gates.

They were all set to leave Markarth and now there was only one more thing to consider.

"So, where are we going?" Aeyrin asked while they stopped just above the market by the small stream.

"I don't know. How about we get out of the cities for a while? We could do with some time in the wilderness," Bishop pondered on the question. It had been some time since they found themselves with no immediate plans. He always liked that when it happened. It was the only time when they could lose themselves in the wilderness, just adventuring and spending time together alone.

Staying in the Reach was probably not the best idea with how things were now, but they could maybe go to Haafingar to explore the northern forests. They hadn't ever spent much time there. Every time they got to the area, it was for Solitude and their stay there soured Bishop on the entire Hold promptly.

He was about to tell her this idea of his as he idly leaned on the door to a nearby house.

He never managed to get a word out, however. As soon as he leaned his weight against the Dwemer metal door, it creaked and he felt the empty space behind his back all too late to save himself.

Bishop fell flat on his back as the door suddenly opened and Aeyrin couldn't help but giggle at the inept stunt.

"Are you alright?" she asked in between the barely subdued giggles.

Bishop groaned loudly while his back vibrated with unpleasant pain after the impact on the cold stone floor inside the house. Who the fuck leaves their door unlocked?!

In a second, Aeyrin outstretched her arm to him and he took it to hoist himself up.

Only then he noticed why the door was unlocked.

He looked around the house that he had accidentally ended up inside. It was fully furnished and lived-in, but everything was covered with a thick layer of dust and cobwebs. This place must have been empty for quite some time.

"What is this place?" Aeyrin wondered as her eyes roamed over the house. There was a fireplace by one of the walls with a bear-skin rug and an expensive-looking couch right in front of it, but it all looked old and neglected. Did someone leave this house fully furnished like this?

"Don't know. An abandoned home, I guess." Bishop shrugged. It was weird that so much stuff was in it, but maybe the owners died and the city didn't clean the place out yet.

He took a few steps further into the chamber, still looking around.

It was so quiet. And a little eerie. They were all alone in the dark quiet house, but there was still some light coming through a narrow slit in the wall to serve as a meager window.
