For those of you who need a refresher about who Kabu is, Kabu is a Gym Leader featured within the Sword & Shield games who specializes in the fire typing. Kabu isn't from the Galar region as he originates from the Hoenn region. Kabu is labeled as the most unforgiving & relentless of all the Galar gym leaders. Kabu repeatedly bumps into Hop & the player on his/her journey often giving wise advice.

Kabu makes no sense for SO many reasons!!! I want to point out the obvious first, it is mentioned MANY times throughout Sword & Shield, AS WELL AS HIS TRAINER CARD, that Kabu came from the Hoenn region YET he doesn't use a single fire type from Hoenn in his team. Instead, Kabu uses an Arcanine, Ninetails & a Gigantamax Centiscorch: 2 Kanto Pokemon & 1 Galar. If you're going to beat the horse by saying Kabu is from Hoenn, maybe give him a Hoenn Pokemon? He could literally use Torkoal, Camerupt, Solrock(even though Solrock ain't a fire type it DOES know a multitude of fire moves. Heck, I was certain Solrock was a fire type till this update) or even a freaking Blaziken!!! Thing is, out of all the Pokemon I just listed, only Torkoal & Solrock are in the Galar Pokedex but still, GIVE KABU A FREAKING HOENN POKEMON!!! To be technical, Ninetails IS in the Hoenn Pokedex but it's still no excuse that Kabu doesn't have a Hoenn Pokemon on his team.

Let's move onto the next reason why Kabu makes no sense. So, to be fair, ALOT of trainers you're introduced to in Sword & Shield either used to be Champion or COULD be Champion like Peony, Rose, Raihan & Mustard. Kabu is also one of those 'trainers who hold the capability to become champion'. It's even confirmed that Kabu & Mustard(Galar's former Champion) used to be rivals! Kabu's trainer card details how he used to be one of Galar's strongest trainers & is one of the toughest gym leaders Galar's ever had. So why is Kabu only the 3rd Gym Leader? We have literal children, Allister & Bea, who own a gym AFTER Kabu. I'm sorry it just doesn't make sense. I know Kabu's trainer card claims he went through a 'rutt' of sorts but if you're one of the toughest Galar Gym Leaders in history, why is he of the first gyms you face? Honestly, you'd think for as old as Kabu is, for how much more experience Kabu's had with battles & his powerful title you'd think Kabu would be the last or second to last Gym Leader you face... Right? You can't argue that he's the 3rd Gym you face due to his Gym being one of the first you can access. His Gym IS the first Gym you access in your adventure!!! Furthermore, Raihan is the final gym leader yet you can visit his Gym early on in the game as well so location has nothing to do with it. Kabu not having a Hoenn Pokemon on top of being one of the first Gym leaders straight up makes no sense...

In fact, I'll make Kabu a new team right here & now! This team would be fitting for Kabu IF he were the final gym leader.
Of course, Kabu can still have the Pokemon he already has being his Gigantamax Centiscorch, Arcanine & Ninetails.
Next, I'd give Kabu the only Hoenn fire type available in Sword & Shield, that being Torkoal.
Next, I'd give Kabu another Galar fire type, that being Coalossal.
I wouldn't give Kabu a full team of 6 BUT if I had to choose another fire type, I'd give him Solrock. Its a Hoenn Pokemon and Again, I'm aware Solrock isn't a fire type but it's considered a fire type since it's in the shape of the sun, can use fire type moves & this wouldn't be the first time a gym leader had a pokemon that wasn't the type he/she specialized in.

I'd also make Kabu specialize in weather conditions, much like Raihan, considering that half his team would be immune to sandstorm & Torkoal automatically changes the weather to Sunny when sent onto the field. Sunny Day/Harsh sunlight boosts fire moves btw

Do you agree with me? Should Kabu be one of the last gym leaders in Galar? Should he have a Hoenn Pokemon?
