On Pokemon Day 2023, two new Pokemon Scarlet & Violet DLCs were announced alongside SEVEN new Pokemon. Today, I'm ranking the new Pokemon worst to best.
Hope you have fun.
7. Munkidori
And here I thought I didn't care for Zarude, Munkidori is kind of a joke. It's one of the most UN-Pokemon Pokemon I've ever seen which says a lot to be honest. It looks like something I'd find in any regular old Cartoon Network show, like I got HEAVY My Gym Partner's a Monkey vibes from this or even heck I'd have better luck seeing this thing show up in One Piece rather than Pokemon. Yes, it's a rare occasion that I legitimately hate a Pokemon. Maybe I'll just have to wait till the first DLC releases in order to warm up to this monkey, but I'm not a fan.
6. Iron Leaves
Paradox Virizion aka Iron Leaves was one of the driving features that made me determine that Violet would be my main save/game of choice but when Paradox Virizion finally released, I felt disappointed... MOST of the Violet Paradox forms differ from the origin Pokemon in awesome ways but Iron Leaves is straight up just a robotic Virizion. It's tiny too don't forget. It's still cool, but my expectations weren't met.
5. Ogerpon
This guy looks awesome on paper but I have a bad feeling he's gonna look weird as a 3D sprite. Ogerpon is the mythical/legendary of Focus in the 1st Scarlet Violet DLC nicknamed the Green Mask. Once again, he looks awesome but I'm really afraid of what's in store for him.
4. Fezandipiti
Besides Okidogi, Fezandpiti took my interest ten-fold when the 1st DLC was mentioned on the Pokemon Day Presents. Honestly, this is what Bombirdier should've looked like. I especially love how the coloration/body markings effortlessly makes Fezandpiti look as if it's wearing a yukata. To put it simply, I love this thing and can't wait to see it animated as I cam confidently see it working as a 3D sprite unlike Ogerpon.
3. Okidogi
My first thought when I saw this thing 'Grass Type Incineroar'. My second thought was 'Oh... Dog Zygarde learned to stand on two feet'. Either way, I immediately took interest in Okidogi and I'm not entirely sure why either. I just REALLY look forward to using this guy in battle.
2. Terapagos
Terapagos is the 2nd Legendary of Interest that'll debut in the 2nd DLC for Scarlet & Violet. I'm 100% confident that Terapagos is the mythical Pokemon detailed in the Scarlet/Violet book whose shell is made up of octagonal plates and considering it's name, I'm also certain this tiny Turtle will explain the Terastal phenomenon. Not only does it look breathtakingly beautiful, but I'm looking forward to the Lore that surrounds Terapagos.
1. Walking Wake
The Scarlet Book detailed how THIS Pokemon is supposed to be an amalgamation of Suicune, Entei & Raikou but in reality it just looks like a prehistoric Suicune so I'm a little let down but it still looks awesome! I'm genuinely looking forward to capturing this guy for myself and I might actively use Wake on my team. And the best detail: It walks on water JUST LIKE Suicune as well!!! I love the attention to detail and I wish everyone luck In capturing Walking Wake during Tera Raids right now.
Who's your favorite of the seven new Pokemon?
