(I apologize If this chapter feels rushed. I tried making the character feel like it was a now or never thing they had to do)

The coming month felt like a nightmare. Officers and detectives were dropping left and right. Strahm had been up your ass as well as Mark's everytime a new case popped up. On the bright side I was always by Hoffman's side making it so much easier to keep tabs on him.

So far we have lost: David Tapp, Steven Sing, and now Detective Kerry has been missing. Currently I was sitting in Hoffman's office working on my laptop; it felt strange how he seemed to slightly start to let me get closer to him. Small conversation came up more and he started calling me into his office more for the most random shit. I had a feeling he was trying to study me more. Or perhaps I would be the next one that goes missing. Either way it was a constant chess game. Who could get into the other's head and crack them open. I have caught him glancing at me more even holding eye contact until I would look away. The whole thing was strange to me.

Rigg had burst into the door "Report came in not too far from here. A person screaming at the top of their lungs was reported." Hoffman got to his feet "Lead the way. Rookie with me we'll take my car". As you got into the car with Hoffman and drove away, you were nervous. You had been managing to keep tabs on everyone's movements but you had no idea about this one. "The Jigsaw murders have been going on for a while. Do you think they'll ever stop?" Mark gave me a quick look "Jigsaw's motive has always been to punish those he believes are unworthy of life for one reason or another and puts their appreciation of their lives to the test in a brutal and twisted game of survival." thinking over his words you rode the rest of the way down in silence.

When you arrived at the abandoned warehouse, the swat team went in first, making sure the place was clear. After clearing the first area Hoffman kept you by his side slowly making his way through the rooms. The swat team ran video feed through the last room. The camera followed a trail of blood before zooming out. Self Consciously I raised a hand to Mark's shoulder. I was fully shocked at the images we were seeing. "T-that's Kerry!" Rigg looked like he wanted to throw up at any moment. "That's one hell of a way to die, I'm sorry Rigg." I stood up trying to calm him down. Stepping into the room and seeing it up front was worse than seeing it on the camera. Rigg was silently crying, barely holding himself together. Amanda has become a problem; with Kramer's health getting worse, she's been getting away with a lot more.

After finishing your job it was back to the station to file everything. The guilt of not being able to save Kerry was starting to sink in. You couldn't figure out how to feel; you were beyond pissed Amanda has been straying, at the same time you were pissed at yourself. You had all the information you needed to act upon everything but you didn't. Was it because you were too far in this mess? Was it because you were terrified of the outcome of going against John? Or was it because you knew no matter what you'll end up caught? You had chewed your lip raw before setting off to find Mark. As you figured he was at the coffee machine getting a cup. "Hoffman, can I talk to you? Alone?" He looked taken back by my question but led me to his office, shutting the door. "What is this about rookie?" I felt like running away and never coming back. "Promise, promise me you'll let me finish before acting." I tried to look as confident as I could looking at him. Hesitating, he nodded, moving his chair away from his desk. He was ready to react.

I pulled the hem of my shirt down enough to show him the scar "I was put through John Kramer's game" His eyes darken making me feel like I couldn't move "I had a family or what was a family. My father was abusive and killed my brother and mother". I started to shake remembering everything "He had shot (B/n) and slit my mom's throat. I escaped and was worried about my older sister and ran back and it turned out she was in on the whole damn thing." my blood started to boil "I saw red and caught my dad off guard while (S/n) went looking for me. Dragged him to the basement and cut parts of him off one by one making him scream for mercy for hours". Hoffman stood up from his desk ready to most likely get rid of me "I went after my sister next; I was almost done and the police game and she got away". I kept Hoffman at bay finishing up my story.

"I'm sorry about what happened to your sister; and honestly that fucker deserved what you did to him". Mark was now standing in front of me unreadable "Now I've told my side I don't care what you do to me. (S/n) is alive and looking for me whichever path I go down it doesn't end well for me." Mark didn't move and just kept looking down at me. "Mark, please whatever you're planning just make it quick for me". He went to his door, locking it before turning back to me. "Help me" he said cautiously "Kramer and Amanda are in my way of doing what needs to be done." I hummed intrigued by his words "John has the right ideas but the wrong way of doing them" He paced back and forth keeping his eyes on me. "We have first hand experience of the filth that shames this town. Both of us had those closest taken from us. Both of us were punished wrongly by Kramer for doing what the law couldn't do". I had a bad feeling about where this was going.

"Join me. Let's fix this town." Hoffman held his hand out with the other ready on whatever he had in his pocket "Can I trust you?" I grabbed his hand "Prove I can trust you first" and a stinging pain entered my neck. I felt extremely dizzy and started to fall; Mark's arms wrapped around me holding me up against him. "F-fuck you" was the last thing I could speak before my vision finally went.
