Dustin Henderson was intelligent. Well, that's a bit of an understatement.

What I meant was Dustin Henderson was extremely knowledgeable on the fascinating topic of science. Especially when the topic had come to the electromagnetic field, which was clearly a strength he showcased in the Wheeler basement with just a simple compass.

The boy figured out the flaws of the simple traveling device, just by realizing that the compass didn't point towards the true North due to a suddenly strong magnetic force.

Who would of guess? Only Dustin Henderson could of answered that.

That simple discovery and the quick lesson given to the preteens by Mr Clark, were enough to piece together the mystery of the gate for the Upside Down.

And that's exactly where the five preteens were searching for in that exact moment.

As soon as Dustin cracked the compass, the Party's plan to actually find the gate was set in motion. The five preteens immediately escaped from the Wheeler basement to embark on their adventure in the outside world.

They were determined to find the ultra powerful door to the alternative dimension that could possible kill them. You know, sounds like a hobby that the average twelve year old would definitely be partaking in.

Right now, the Party members were walking along the train tracks with their compasses in tow. They walked in small pairs as the narrow tracks wouldn't be able to handle the preteens walking as a clustered group.

Lucas Sinclair and Dustin Henderson were at the very front together with their compasses. Wendy Harrington stood with them as well but was in charge of reading the map, in case directions were needed.

"How much further?" Lucas asked, clearly becoming impatient with the compass.

"I don't know. Theses only tell direction, not distance." Dustin pointed out, "You really need to learn more about compasses."

"I'm just saying. How do we know when we get to the gate?" Lucas pondered.

"Uh, I think a portal to another dimension is gonna be pretty obvious." Dustin rolled his eyes in annoyance like it was obvious.
