Thomas Harrington liked to believe that he was a good father. He thinks he did a decent job at in raising two well-behaved children, despite doing it all on his own and that was more than some men have ever done.
The male made sure they were clothed, feed, had a comfortable house to live in and any other basic necessity were well taken care of. But he was also very involved in their lives. He was the type to watch movies on late nights with them, assist them with school projects or even simply converse with them about their days.
Thomas really tried his best to believe that he was a good father, maybe even a great one but the last year or so, had really destroyed his own self confidence in his parenting abilities.
He had already lost his youngest child to a terrible incident, which would be enough to break any parent's heart. And he luckily still had his son but even he was beginning to shut everyone out of his life, including his own father.
Thomas thought it was just his sister's death taking a toll on him and allowed him to grief on his own terms but he didn't realize that there was a deeper trauma eating away at his son. He had no idea as he was never told about it, which was strange.
He was the type of father to know every single bit of information to occur in his children's lives. If one of them was being bullied at school or had a romantic crush then he would immediately figure it out. He kept tabs on everything going on to ensure he could quickly provide support to his children.
That's why the idea of Stanley Harrington closing himself off from his father was such a confusing but also, concerning thing. He was the type to constantly rambled about every thought that came to his mind, so his new inclusive lifestyle was worrying beyond belief to his father.
Thomas had his first experience with his son's new isolating personality, when he had noticed a faded set of strange scars decorating the boy's calves. He instantly questioned about them but was met with hostility to avoid the topic before a complete shut down had occurred.
It was strange to say the least as he had never seen that sort of reaction before from his own son and just hoped it was a one time thing but unfortunately, that type of behaviour had continued day after day.
It had gotten to the point that it had become the norm around the Harrington household for the last few months. And even Thomas had become sensitized to his son's sudden outbursts as he knew he couldn't do anything about them.
