The last two days had come and gone, with the anticipation growing. At least Kami knew she would be able to hang out with Bulma while everyone else was fighting. Kami had never seen anything like this before and she was excited, while also nervous. She didn't want to see her new friends get hurt, especially Goku. Kami and Goku had gotten extremely close in the last two months even though he was distracted with the tournament, and she cherished that. "They won't let us in to watch the preliminary fights," Bulma said, clearly angry, as she crossed her arms and frowned with her whole face. Kami looked at her, "I think they'll all make it, don't you?" Kami asked, trying to help the situation. Bulma rolled her eyes. "Yeah but I don't get to see Yamcha fight," she sighed in frustration. "Plus, sometimes there's hot guys in there," she continued as Oolong rolled his eyes at her. "Don't forget about Yamcha,"he said, in a condescending voice knowing it would make her mad. "Yeah but I can still look," she shouted back. It took everything in Kami's power not to laugh. "What're you looking at old man," Bulma shouted at a passerby. Kami looked around. "Why don't we grab some ice cream or something?" She suggested to try and calm Bulma down, it seemed to work. As they stood in the line Kami couldn't help but worry about Goku and his friends as they fought for a spot in the tournament. Bulma told her that Goku had placed second both times he'd participated before, but still she couldn't help but worry. They got their snacks and found a spot right in front of the fighting platform and waited for the tournament to begin. There was an announcement that the preliminary fights had ended and the real show would begin soon.

Just then, the group saw Tien running out of the building following a group of nurses carrying a stretcher. They ran over to see Chiaotzu laying knocked out, being carried into an ambulance. Tien was obviously upset. From what Kami had gathered they had a tender past, and it hurt to see Tien upset and Chiaotzu passed out like that. They were all assured that he would be ok, but needed to be taken to the hospital. This seemed to make Tien more upset as he walked back to the building with his fists balled. The group walked back over to their spot and waited in silence. Not much later, the announcer walks out onto the platform and announces the first round. It's Tien versus mercenary Tao. Mercenary Tao? Kami recalls a story she'd been told about Goku killing mercenary Tao many years ago in order to save Bora. Bora was the keeper of Korin's tower and had been killed by Tao, Goku had promised Upa- who was Bora's son- that he would use the dragon balls to bring his father back to life. So knowing all of that, how is Tao here today? Kami guessed that questioning Tao's existence was valid because master Roshi, Oolong, and Bulma looked as confused as she did. Tao and Tien did a bit of talking and exchanged throws when Tien came down on him, knocking him out completely. Tien then picked up Tao like a rag doll and walked him over to the barrier between the audience and the fighting platform. He dropped Tao on the barrier- right in front of Tao's brother, Master Shen. Shen had trained alongside Roshi for many years when they were younger. Tien had hate in his eyes, and it frightened Kami. What would happen if he ended up fighting Goku? It was inevitable. Kami, like most who knew him, was convinced Goku would make it to the end of the tournament.

There was a short break while the crew cleaned up the fighting platform, and the announcer was back. Behind him Kami could see Goku stretching. "For the next match, we have Goku versus Anonymous!" The announcer shouted. Goku stood ready on the platform, awaiting his opponent. A woman walked onto the platform across from Goku. "This contestant decided to opt out of giving their real name, so from here on out she will be referred to as Anonymous!" The announcer clarified. Bulma scrunched her face, Oolong clung to the barrier with his mouth agape. "So long as I live, I will never forgive you for this," Anonymous said with fervor and a look of intensity in her burning eyes. "BEGIN," the announcer shouts with importance. Immediately Anonymous launches herself at Goku, attacking with passion but never landing a punch. Goku distances himself from his opponent. "Have I ever met you before?" He asked genuinely confused. She seemed offended. "Have you forgotten the promise you made? Let me jog your memory," she came at him with even more intensity than before. Goku once again distanced himself from her. "I know you're angry, but tell me what I promised you. Please?" He asked legitimately concerned. His opponent stood up straight, her eyebrows furrowed in anger. "You're serious? You really can't remember? Fine. I'll tell you the promise you broke," she stopped to wipe her face before taking a deep breath and continued with even more anger than before. "You said that I would be your bride! YOU PROMISED TO MARRY ME! I would think even YOU could remember that one," she shouted, catching everyone off guard. Kami's heart sank. Bride? Was Goku to be married? Why wouldn't he tell her that? Why would they share a room if he had a fiancé the whole time? "Bride??" Goku shouts, obviously unknowing of the word. Krillin and Yamcha try to describe to him what the word means. "Live together? With you?" Goku questioned, still completely confused. "When I said that, was I conscious?? How could I promise that if I don't even know your name?" Goku shouted back, almost shaking. "Fine," she clapped back. "I'll tell you my name," she looked up from the ground directly into Goku's eyes. "IF YOU BEAT ME," she ran at him once again. Back in the audience, Oolong has clearly figured out who this mysterious girl is, but everyone else is still confused. Just then, she seemed to have just flown off of the platform onto the ground. Goku had punched at her, but not made contact on purpose. The wind from the attack had thrown her out of the ring. The audience is still. Goku walked over to her. "Just relax, give it a second. I'm sorry, that blast was supposed to knock you out of the ring, not knock you out," Goku joked as he helped her sit up. She explained who she was. Chichi, the Ox king's daughter. Goku had first met her many years ago, when he was about twelve years old. "I don't think you understand," Goku started, almost embarrassed. "When you said bride all those years ago, I thought it was something to eat," Goku scratched the back of his head with an unsure smile. Chichi looked from his eyes to the ground. "So, the promise you made... was a mistake?" She looked back up at him, tears in her eyes. Goku was taken aback. He sighed. "I'm sorry Chichi," Goku looked to the ground. She took a deep breath and stood up. She looked down at Goku, then without a word, she left.
