Hero?

The next match was between Yamcha and an unknown man named Hero. Hero seemed untrained, and almost incompetent. He was constantly apologizing and laughing nervously. How did someone like him make it this far, but Chiaotzu got eliminated in the preliminary rounds? As the two entered the arena Yamcha seemed confused by his opponent. He was cocky and boisterous, as if he expected a clean and easy win. The audience and staff didn't seem too impressed by Hero either. Nobody was taking him seriously. But with his stature and goofy smile, how could you? "I almost feel sorry for that guy, having to fight Yamcha. I don't think this will take very long," Bulma said with a cheeky smirk. Sure, Kami thought, the guy doesn't look like much, but he had to be pretty good to get here, right?

"I'm very honored you'd take the time to fight me," Hero said as he bowed to Yamcha, who looked confused, scratching the back of his head. Yamcha laughed reassuring his opponent. The fight began. Not even two minutes in, Yamcha seemed to have tripped and knocked himself on the ground. Was Yamcha being careless because he underestimated his opponent? Hero seems to have no technique or true fighting stance, but still time and time again Yamcha ended up the one on the ground. He seemed to just continue to make a fool out of Yamcha, while also making a fool out of himself. The fight is pure slapstick humor. While it seems to amuse the audience it doesn't really seem to belong at this tournament. "Listen Hero, you seem like a nice guy, but this is a match. So why don't we get back to it, and save the laughter till after the fight," Yamcha interrupted the crowds laughter after the last few exchanges. "It will be all over soon, I promise," Yamcha smiled as he regained his stance. They exchanged more words the audience couldn't hear, and Yamcha resorted to his special attack, wolf fang fist! Hero was able to block each blow with a single hand. Suddenly Hero seemed way more real than he had presented himself. Yamcha came at Hero with one more blow, more powerful than anything he'd done so far. "Spirit ball," he put his hand above his head and smirked. "Attack!" He shouted. Hero barely dodged the attack. "That's some attack you've got there," Hero finally seemed concerned about his opponent. Once off guard, Yamcha charged making contact. However Hero was able to come back, making one strike to Yamcha's chest sending him stepping backwards. Not aware of his movements, Yamcha stepped back too many times and finally fell out of bounds. Once he realized what happened, the two shook hands and the match was over.

The crew made their way back to the platform to fix the flooring and clean up before the first match of the semi finals. This battle would be between Tien and Goku. Apparently these two had fought before in the last tournament, back before they had become friends. The audience was rearing and ready to go as the fighters took their stances, ready to settle old scores. As soon as the match began, the two were moving faster than anyone could see. Not even a minute in, the fight had moved to the sky, making it even harder for anyone to tell what was going on. "Master Roshi," Kami said nervously. "Can you see what's happening?" She asked, her heart pounding. Roshi just looked to the sky with his hands behind his back, no expression on his face. Eventually the fight moved back to the ground, and the two were locked on each other, neither one seemingly able to gain the upper hand. Tien threw Goku into the wall on the opposite side of the rink from the audience. Kami gasped and quickly threw her hand over her mouth in horror. All time seemed to stop for her and she couldn't breath. Goku quickly got up and threw Tien on the floor. The two battled for a few more moments before stopping to exchange more words. A moment later, they took to the sky once more. Seeming without warning, Goku falls from the sky, with Tien close behind him. Kami grabs the barrier in front of her. "Goku," she shouted, completely unwillingly. Just before he hit the ground, Goku took control of his movements and the two land on their feet still in bounds. The two stop to talk once more. Goku stops to stretch with a smile on his face. Is he really that relaxed? Even after all that? Goku starts to shed some of his clothing as the announcer goes on about a fight he can barely keep up with. It looked like Goku was struggling to take off his shirt, which caught everyone by surprise. Finally it was revealed that Goku's clothes were weighted! Even down to his wristbands and boots. Tien looked concerned at first, but no matter. He had a move hidden up his sleeve. He turned himself into four! It looked to Goku like the after-image technique at first, until he realized they can all land hits. It truly was four Tien's. At first it seemed like Tien had the upper hand- or hands- but Goku soon showed that he was capable of taking them all on at once. All four Tiens took a stance at each corner of the arena, and Goku decided to take to the sky to escape into the clouds. Just then, all Tiens shot an energy beam from their third eyes into the sky, sending Goku falling from the sky. Goku landed on the floor of the arena, seemingly defeated. The crowd went silent. Kami's heart sank and she felt her knees getting weak. Her heart started to race- just then Goku jumped up. Kami's eyes widened and her jaw nearly hit the floor. Goku faced his opponent and smiled as if nothing had happened. What was this man made of? Gelatin? He seems to completely absorb every attack his opponent threw at him, no matter how deadly it looked. Goku took to the sky once more, and attacked from above. The announcer informed the crowd that the attack was called solar flare, and it was something Tien used last time he was fighting Goku at the tournament. Goku and Tien talked some more, but the audience couldn't hear. Finally Goku seemed to take the fight seriously as his childish smile turned into a focused stare, as he then one by one threw each Tien out of bounds, thusly securing his spot in the finals.

The crowd went absolutely crazy, but Kami could barely keep her composure. She knew Goku was strong, of course. But this? Was he just playing that entire time? Goku and Tien shook hands after the fight and walked back to the other side of the arena to the other fighters as the crew came to clean up the immense mess they had made. The next battle was between Junior and Hero, and it wouldn't begin for some time. There was quite a mess to clean up after that last round after all.
