Skylar walked in through the lobby of the Embassy Suites of Santo Domingo, his home city.

They were staying at the tallest building in the city in the Dominican Republic for a public relations event. This was more or less a pit stop on their way to Patagonia for an actual snowboarding event where Skylar would be competing head first against Elise in an event catered specifically for the wingsuit techs.

Griff had them stand around and smile for camera's more often than actually competing which did great for getting everyone's names out there but both teams wanted to actually board. Zoe only came to about half of the publicity shows as she spent the rest of her time actually training her team. Team Griff had to take it upon themselves to train.

Both teams were here in the DR with other snowboarding teams from around the world as this press event was being held by the World Snowboarding Federation. Team heads were going to hammer out BigAir, slope style, and half pipe events along with exhibition events for the coming season on tracks across the globe.

Nothing Skylar really had to worry about. He was glad to visit home but not to happy to be Griff's personal translator when speaking to the conference moderators. Other teams, including SSX, hired professional translators but Griff couldn't be bothered to spend money on such a thing when he could use Skylar for the free labor he was.

But right now all he was concerned with was the meeting he just left with Dr. Holt, the teams on-site medic. Skylar met with Holt in small conference room on the ground floor and went over in depth blood work taken at the hospital back in Japan just after their accident.

He pulled the report out from his pocket and smoothed the paper out reading through it again as he walked to the elevators. He skimmed the words and numbers only understanding about half of it but understanding the important parts. Holt had assured him it wasn't serious and it was fixable with proper diet. But Skylar could only blame himself.

He looked up and saw Griff walking his way, face concentrating on his phone, and folded up the paper clumsily to stuff back in his pocket. As he was looking down trying to get the paper back in his pocket he ended up running straight into Griff.

Griff stumbled back and Skylar felt his prosthetic twist painfully to the left.

Skylar hissed in pain and Griff was already on him, "Seriously? There's like eight feet of hallway!"

Skylar twisted his leg back in place, "Yea on your side, dumbass."

Griff flipped him off and Skylar returned the gesture and they both parted ways.

Skylar headed back up to his room he shared with Val and found it empty. He was kind of happy, he needed a little bit to think about literally anything else.

He headed into the bathroom, after throwing his hoodie on the bed and his shoes on the floor, turning on the shower and stripping his clothes. He looked in the mirror and was a little disappointed in his reflection. He was graced with height but not much more. In his early twenties his body fit his height but now he just looked overly lean. Toned muscle, but lean none the less. He knew he wasn't sickly but maybe Holt was right and he could fix it.

He turned away finally, removed his leg and coverings, and sat in the shower for what seemed like an entire hour. He was never one for meditating but he felt like he could just forget things when he sat in the shower. The hot water and steam all around made him feel at home and he let his mind wander to all the good things in his life. It was when he laid in bed at night under the covers he thought about all the shit and grim in his life he had to eventually deal with in the morning. Griff was usually the one who made his life hell. And him being the manager and team captain made it hard to ignore.
