Xiao looked at the grey sky. He felt lonely, left alone by everyone he cared about. Completely lost in the world.

The clouds looked as if it would start to rain any second. Xiao didn't care. He didn't care about anything anymore. Or rather- he didn't want to care about anything anymore, scared to lose it just like he had lost everything and everyone else. He just wanted to die.

Cursed to immortality, he was doomed to wander this earth, until he would get killed. Or until he killed himself? Xiao had thought about it many times, but the contract he had with the Lord of Geo had prevented him from ending it. He had to protect Liyue and its people, no matter what. It was the only thing keeping him alive. But now that Morax was dead- did it still matter? Did he matter? He couldn't think straight.

Shaking his head, he looked back at the landscape in front of him. Hills, mountains, lakes. It was beautiful. Formerly, he would have sat here and relax, would have glanced over the vast lands, trying to forget about everything that had happened. It always seemed to help best against the memories of his past. At least, before Morax left.

Why?

Xiao couldn't find an answer.

Why did he leave? Why does everyone leave me?

It almost was like a curse. Happening over and over again. The Yakshas, Morax- who would be next?

It started raining. Xiao didn't move. Still, he just stood there, looking over Liyue's surrounding area.
After a while he turned around, not looking back. He was tired. Not knowing if he would even be able to sleep, he made his way back to Wangshu Inn, climbed to the roof and up the giant tree. Sitting down in a crotch, the boy tried to sleep. He was desperate, frustrated, sad- couldn't sort his feelings at all. But as some time passed, his sight slowly blurred and he drifted away into a restless sleep.

——

Elswhere, a young bard was sitting in the branches of an old tree. A light breeze ruffled his hair. He played a lyre, the sound flowing like the wind in the leaves. It was peaceful.

The boy opened his eyes and glanced at the stars. Although the sky was mostly clear, he could see storm clouds in the distance. He laid back, sighed and closed his eyes again. Listening to the sound of the wind had always calmed him.

As he sat back up and put away his lyre, it was already late at night. The boy jumped down from the tree, but it looked almost as if he were flying. For a moment he floated before gently landing on his feet. With a deep breath he started walking towards the city, knowing he had to take a rest. Tomorrow was going to be a long day for him.
