Turning Red: Everybody Loves Abby

A Visit at Miriam's

In Miriam's bedroom, there are three girls hanging around with her.

They are all sitting on the bed. Mei, Abby and Priya are happy to see Miriam. She was glad her friends took their visit to her house.

Abby pets gently on the cream tabby kitten's head. She smiles big at it. The cream tabby kitty meows at her.

Mei glances at Miriam. She was wondering. "Does your sweet kittens have names?" Mei asked.

Miriam checks her different colored kitty-cats. She grinned. Miriam gestures out one kitten. "That little kitty girl with Abby is Cinderella." She added. Miriam sighs. "She slept in my closet on my Disney princess costume shoes last night." Miriam replied.

Mei, Abby and Priya awed at the cream tabby kitty.

Abby scratches Cinderella behind her right ear. The cream tabby kitten looks up at her. She makes sweet faces at it. "Did you sleep on your mom's things, Cinderella? Did ya, girl?" Abby wonders. She appears compassionate to animals.

The cream tabby kitten meowed at her.

Abby gasped happily. She encountered Miriam. "O-M-G, Mir. Cinderella says yes to me." Abby said. She was going silly at the cream tabby kitty. Abby imitates her cute meowing sounds. She curls her right hand next to her face. Abby was pretending to be a little kitten. She kept making kitty-cat noises to Cinderella.

The cream tabby kitten tilted her head at her.

Priya shook her head. She was contented. "That girl is losing her mind again." Priya commented.

Mei and Miriam are annoyed with her. Mei crisscrossed her arms. "Abby!" She exclaimed.

Abby halts herself. She faces at Mei. Abby was bewildered. "What?" She asks.

Miriam shrugs. "Enough making meow-meow at Cinderella!" She exclaims.

Abby got disappointed. "Aww, but I was having my moment with your sweet cream kitty." She whined.

Miriam groaned at Abby.

Priya surveys for the two kittens. She found the grey and black and white kitten. They're on Miriam's bookshelf. Both of them lays down on her books. "What about your other two kittens, Mir?" Priya inquires.

Miriam glanced at her bookshelf. She was delighted. Miriam gestured at her two kitties. "The black and white one is Figaro. Then, the grey kitten is Chessur. When I give food to Cinderella, Figaro and Chessur, I think the grey kitty anyhow grins big at me." She answered.

Mei chuckles with Miriam. "That's why his name is Chessur from Alice in Wonderland." She stated.

Miriam agrees with Mei.

Miriam faced Priya. "How's your kitten, by the way?" She added, asking. "Cinnamon, right?" Miriam wondered.

Priya was confident. "Yeah. She's good." Priya added. "My parents are taking care of her while I'm gone to see you. I told them I won't be long." She replies.

Abby sighed. She was solemn. "Girls, we have a serious problem here." Abby added. She stroked the cream tabby kitty's head softly. Cinderella purrs at her. "It's about summer after school." Abby said.

Mei recognized instantly. She was astonished. "Abby has a right idea to worry about." Mei added. She looked at her three friends. Mei became melancholy. "Our last day of middle school is on the first day of summer. We're not going to see each other after that. My family temple is going to be busier on this season." She mentions.

Miriam sighs. She was pitiful. "My mom has plans for me after school's over." Miriam added. She clings her right arm. Miriam took a deep breath. "There was a summer camp I used to go to since after my first kindergarten. She set me up to go there. And I still have to. The worst seven summer years of my life." Miriam aforesaid.

Priya was baffled. "Hm, what summer camp does your mom took you to?" She asked.

Miriam inhaled. She was unhappy. "Camp Let-Me-Turn-You-Into-A-Oompa-Loompa." Miriam replies quickly. She takes herself easy. Miriam breathed with exhaustion.

Mei became disgusted. "Ugh..." she said.

Abby perturbs and shivers herself.

Priya gets concerned. "Camp Apollo." She stated.

Abby shakes out her terrible thought. She encounters Miriam. "My mom would talked me into helping her in the hair salon. If we made a lot more money than her monthly expenses, we go on random road trips." Abby said.

Miriam seems bemused. "What kind of road trips?" She wonders.

Abby took a deep breath. She was cheerful. "Where we can viewed sunsets on the ocean. Like Maine for example." Abby answers.

Mei raises her eyebrow at Abby. "Your mom takes you to the beaches?" She asks.

Abby was annoyed. "I was hoping to meet a hot boy whichever beach we went to." She added. Abby tightens her teeth. "I have no luck." She argued.

Priya seemed jealous. "That's brilliant." She comments.

Miriam stared at Priya funny. "You okay, girl?" Miriam wondered.

Priya frowns. "My parents takes me to the zoo every summer." She replied.

Mei wasn't surprised. "I thought you already have been to the zoo for our school trip before." She uttered.

Priya huffed. "It's a different zoo." She said.

Abby was overwhelmed. "So that's it? We're just going to do what our parents expects us to do for this summer?" She asked.

Then, Abby ranted herself in Korean.

Mei sighed. She was pleading. "Guys, we can't give up yet. Middle school might be ending soon. But we're not going to let our families ruin our summer." Mei urged.

Miriam takes deep breaths. She was sad. "Mei, I appreciate you're trying to help. Yet, perhaps we'll have to see each other again until high school." Miriam added. "We're becoming a grade ninth, right?" She wondered. Miriam sighs.

Abby and Priya are upset too.

What if they don't see each other in high school? What if their 4-Townies' group gets split up due to summer? What if it's their goodbyes after middle school's out for the season?

Mei became determined. "Then we're just going to make our last day of school the best of it." She declared.
