It's at least 4:00 in the morning but my parents haven't come home yet. The fear of them being dead scares me. They said that they were going to be home by 8:00 and its eight hours since their due date home. I can tell my brother is worried by the way he keeps checking in on me and I pretend to be asleep everytime, but he knows I'm not. Sometime later I fall asleep from worring to much about them but I suddenly wake up from the blaring of a siren. I look out my window and see the officer step out of his car and walk to the door. My brother stares at the window not moving towards the door knowing that it wont bring any good news.
I step to the door and try to keep calm as I turn the door knob and open the door. " Are you Mrs. Aubrey Smith?"the officer asks as I nod my head holding in an ocean full of tears. "Is Mr. Jason Smith here?"again I nod my head." Yes, he is my brother. I will go get him.",but he must have heard us because when I turn around to get him he is walking towards the door. "Yes officer, I am Jason. Do you have any news about our parents?" I can tell he is scared by the way his voice is shaky from trying to stay calm, but for me I'm on the verge of tears."Yes, I do." It seems like hours past by, but in reality only a couple of seconds. " I'm sorry to tell you, but your parents Mr. And Mrs.Smith were in a fatal car accident..." I couldn't hear anymore, my heart felt like it was going to break through my chest and the sound of blood pounded my ears. I knew it, I knew they were dead and I could've saved them. Why didn't I stop them from going was the only thing I could think of before everything went dark.
