As soon as my grandma parks she says"Take as long as you need. If you need me I will be right out here." I can tell that memories are coming back to her, by the way she looks around with tears in the corner of her eyes." Don't worry we will be fine, come on Aubrey." Jason says in a voice that's to calm, that sends chills up my spine. We walk to the door and I turn the knob and push the door open. Jason walks into the house first and sighs"It's different with out mom and dad here." So we go into our rooms and start packing the things we cherished most. I pack my clothes into a blue luggage bag that I got for our vacation last year. If I think of it I can still feel the sand squishing between my toes and my mom splashing in the waves with me." You okay in there?" I hear my grandma ask at my door. I didn't realize I was crying until now, knowing that me and my mom could never recreate that moment." Yeah,I'm fine. I just don't know why it happened to us."my voice is starting to crack from the warm tears sliding down my face."Sweetie, God works in mysterious ways and sometimes it does turn out for the better."

Driving down the roads of Maine knowing that my parents will never be able to see the leaves as the seasons change, hurts me. Right now the leaves are red, golden, and a few that haven't changed. Further down the road there is a public park and a picnic area. I see a family with a dad, a mom, a daughter, and a son."Jason?"I say loud enough to be heard over the radio."Yeah." "Do you remember the time we all went to the picnic area and your frisbee went into that tree." I hear him giggle and that makes me laugh. How good that laugh felt, but I knew I wouldn't last long. "Yeah, and then dad had to climb up the tree to get it." Then it's suddenly quiet. No radio, no talking, only the sound of the cars engine and the sound of our breathing.

We are about to turn onto the road when my grandma asks"Are you guy's hungry? I know I am." " I am." Jason and I said in unison. We park in the small garage that smells like fresh laundry. "What do you guys want to eat for dinner?"my grandma says as she is stepping out of the car." I don't care, whatever you have." Jason said. "Ok, well let's get you settled in and then we can figure something out." We walk in and I find Mittens purring around and in between my legs." Hey, Mittens." I say as I squat down to pet her. " Aubrey, you can take the first bedroom and Jason you can take the one closest to the study." My grandma says as she is looking through the refrigerator." Dang nabit, there is nothing good in this refrigerator." I hear her say as I walk into my new room. I can feel that it's not like home. Nothing will ever be home without mom and dad. I hear a knock rasp at my door and the door opening. Jason walks in and sits at the corner of the bed and puts creases on the bedsheets." You okay, I mean with like everything that has happened lately?"he says with a look of pain in his face." Yeah, I guess but it's not the same. It's hard knowing that they are gone, but it's harder knowing that mom could've lived but didn't." I say with new tears springing and running down my cheeks." It's okay, we will figure things out." He says as he pulls me into a hug.
