Chapter 2

I wake up the next morning in a strange room"Hey, you ok?" Jason said sitting in a chair next to the bed. Everything that happened last night felt like a dream that I couldn't grasp on to "Yeah,but what happened? Jason, where are mom and dad?"I asked knowing that I was about to hear the worst. "A three car collision is what happened. Aubrey, dad died before the paramedics got there and mom died on the table, she wouldn't have made it even if they did the surgery." I started to feel dizzy again, but it turns out I was crying harder than I ever have. "She would have been paralyzed from the neck down and maybe never able to talk or eat ever again. The doctors said her brain trauma was serve and her neck and spine broke in many places." I tried to process all this news that came way to fast." Why did it happen to us?" I muttered, but I knew Jason heard it because he shakes his head and says"I don't know why, but it did and we have to figure a way to cope. Some how some way we will."

That evening I am released from the hospital and our grandma picks us up. I can tell that she was crying from her eyes being red and puffy." Do you need to go get some stuff from your house?"she says in a coarse voice." Ya we do, just to get some clothes and important stuff." I say knowing that we might never go back to that house. So we get in the car and I get in back so I can try to sleep some more, but all I can do is stare out the window and remember. I see the pond that I had my fifth birthday party at,and the way dad's and mom's face glowing in the basking sun. Then I see the baseball park that Jason hit his first home run at, the way mom and dad cheered for him. The long dirt road that smelled like pine trees and flowers all year long leading to our house, the first time I road my bike down there and fell, how mom cuddled me and said I did amazing. It all leads up to the house, the house Jason and I was raised in, played in, and cherished. The house that has so many memories some bad,but so many more good.
