I recently found on Youtube the works of Robert Bruce on astral projection and related subjects. I find it interesting because he approach the subject without the religious taboo normally associated with it. For example, Theosophy would warn you about the dangers of prematurely awakening your kundalini because this will magnify all your qualities, both good and bad. Therefore it is better to first undergo a purification process than to directly try to develop your psychic powers. This is much like the teachings of the catholic about good and evil. That is if you do not follow the path of righteousness, you will go down to hell. Therefore fear is instill upon you. Whereas, Robert Bruce's works only lightly touch on the human nature and approached astral projection directly... scientifically if I may say.
Many of Bruce's work include exercises on activating your chakra and kundalini in a clear instruction which you will not find in any of the Theosopical books by Leadbeater, Beasant, and Blavatsky. In fact, their works even leads you away from it and encourages you to let the normal course of human evolution do its own thing as it is the safest.
I just realized that fear is what i got from reading those books, brain washing me into thinking that developing your good character is the only path to enlightenment. This is not much different to the christian teachings. The only difference is that Theosophy acknowledge the existence of astral bodies, psychic phenomena, etc., but pretty much says that these are beyond reach by ordinary humans like us, at least not in your current life time
What interest me about Bruce's work is that he cited a few phenomena which i have experienced while doing the practices in my Astral Projection pamphlet. One notable experience is the rapid heartbeat. Bruce's description has an uncanny similarities with what i experienced several times while trying to project. Bruce dismissed this as harmful or dangerous. And true enough when i try to feel my pulse physically during this rapid heart beating when it feels my heart is going to burst, my pulse rate seems normal. Bruce associated this rapid heart beat to a sensation one may feel when activating the heart chakra.
If the rapid heart beat i experienced is associated with activating the heart chakra, i can only think that the images, visions, energy surge that i described in the Demon Hand chapter could be the sensation one may exprience when successfully activating, or at least stimulating his brow or top of the head chakra. Come to think of it, I was actually making significant progress back then, but because of the fear that was instilled in me by my religious background and the works of Theosophy, i had to step back and halt my progress.
The rope technique is some sort of visualization, in which you imagine yourself pulling your astral body out of your physical body using an imaginary rope dangling above your bed. If it does not work within 15 minutes, do not expect anything more will happen. You are suggested to stop, get something to drink, and try it again some later time. You do not strain yourself meditating for hours. If you are an athlete, meditation, chakra activation, and other concentration exercises are your daily workout training, while the rope technique is the actual competition.
