Before there was MCU, there was the Marvel New Universe. Marvel comics got tired of their costumed heroes and decided to leave the house doning their every day clothes, no masks, no capes, no tights, and definitely no wearing of underwear outside the pants. Just their jeans and shirts. This was the concept Marvel was trying to brew during the eighties. I thought it was a very cool concept. I was still in high school with not much of an allowance. Uniwide mall just opened up within walking distance from school, and their bookstore had piles of Marvel New Universe titles which they sell for cheaps, 10 php if I remember correctly. Much cheaper than the ones sold at Filbars. And they have Cloak and Dagger and Doctor Strange as well, but thats for another chapter. Naturally I easily gravitated towards the New Universe. One particular title interested me the most. It was about Keith Remsen, aka Night Mask. Not because Keith still wears the tights, cape, mask, the whole shebang unlike the characters of the other New Universe titles, but because he had the ability to enter peoples dream and get to the core of their psyche. Keith plays detective while inside peoples dream, often battling monsters created by the peoples subconscious. Keith was actually recruited by the government as one of their psychoanalyst to help troubled paranormals.
