Immortality

During my younger days, when I am designing characters for our Marvel Super Heroes or D&D role playing games, the power of immortality rarely makes it to my list of priority. First, it cost 2 power slots. Second, compared to astral projection, fireball, or other awesome super abilities, immortality is simply boring.

Of course, being a fan of Highlander and Groundhog Day, my perception on immortality gradually changes. Dipping my foot in the study of the occult and Theosophy, I became aware of the concept of the afterlife and reincarnation. Having an immortal body like Connor McLeod, maybe close to impossible, but a soul, a consciousness, or a higher ego, that can pass from one life after another may not be too farfetched at all... and I embraced it, and not because I was born in a Roman Catholic family. I am a non-practicing Catholic, by the way.  Only going to church when a friend or relative dies, baptized, or married.

Unfortunately, reincarnation has one caveat, your memories of past lives are generally locked up in the deep recess of your brain. Under no normal circumstances can you access it. Through normal evolution, when you probably attained the level of enlightenment of Jesus or Buddha, then all your past life will merge into one. But that may take eons, at least for me, and i do not have that much patience yet. A severe blow to the head, a Dalia lama with clairvoyance, or through regression via hypnosis, may allow you to catch glimpses of your past life, but those do not appeal to me very much.

Then one day, at the National Library, where I usually spend my vacant time in college, while giving my mind a break from Leadbeater, Besant, and Blavatsky, an idea came to me. What if, I can archive my journals somewhere safe... maybe, just maybe, I will run across those journals on my next reincarnation? I thought it was a brilliant idea, and a better story too.

Several days later, a more brilliant idea came to me. What if I have already hidden those journals during my previous life? All i need to do now is find and read them!  Ever since, I am always on the constant lookout for any articles, books, publications, movies, which may have been written by my previous incarnations.
