"THE DRESS CAME out very stunning, Princess Korelia." Sephron smiled at her new boss, eyes glancing at every detail the dress in front of her had.
"Yes. Dresses are the only real reason I like galas." Korelia laughed, drying her hair with a towel after taking a bath.
"You're going to look like a cockatoo." A man's voice spoke from the window. Sephron jumped, eyes wide at the stranger standing by the window. When had he come in?
"Those pompous assholes. Thinking they're better than everyone else with their high feather crowns-"
"Why are you here?" Korelia asked.
"I took notice on my way here that the Briarwoods are on their way." Opium answered, turning to face Korelia.
"Yes, father invited them I would assume."
"They never go to any social gatherings they are invited to, so why are they coming here?" Opium questioned. Korelia only gave him a shrug.
"I'm not in their minds. Maybe they aren't social people." She told him sarcastically. "They could probably have lots of things to go over in Whitestone. They are the rulers."
"Rulers, sure. But not by any ethical means." Korelia looked at Sephron, before looking at Opium skeptically.
"What do you mean?" Sephron asked, hands clenched together at her chest.
"They're usurpers. Whatever story they gave to claim they were given Whitestone was a lie." Opium answered.
"Where did you hear this, Opium?" Korelia asked.
"There are familiars essentially all over the world. Whitestone included, obviously." Opium began. "They all left, along with their masters after the Briarwoods took rule over that city. It's a wasteland now."
"What do you mean?"
"There was a sun tree in the middle of Whitestone. The familiars who left said that once the Briarwood took over the magic was sucked out the tree so a lot of the magical castors in the town had to leave." Opium told the girls, his tone dark, eyebrows frowned.
"And the Briarwoods have something to do with it?" Spehron inquired.
"I can't expand much on that, but I can tell you, the Briarwoods are not great rulers. From what the other familiars have told me."
"You don't think they are going to try something here?" The maid turned to Korelia, the tiefling in her own head. She shook it though, turning to expel any bad feeling from her worker.
"I don't think they would. Not at a large gathering like the dinner." Korelia than turned to Opium. "What happened to the De Rolo's than? If they didn't willing give Whitestone to the Briarwoods."
"There excuse is that they all died from a disease." Opium shrugged. "My friend, Wickshaw, once said that there was still one residing in the castle. I find it odd there was one left."
