Hours later they were walking through a burnt down city. Wolfe lead the way, Going toward the morning sun. Eastward. She had climbed onto Demitri's back, his idea of course. Wolfe had tried to stop it. Suggesting Demitri was to weak to carry her and that it was he who should bare her dead weight. But Demitri insisted he carry her.
Wolfe looked as if a frown was forever platered to his face. Small talk was rarely exchanged, except when she wanted to play a game. She was currently in a fierce battle of 20 questions.
"Is it pink? She asked pulling a curl straight out at the back of his head.
"Kinda,"
"Ummmm. Is it fat?"
"I wouldn't say fat, but it's pretty lengthy."
She giggled, he was quite the pervert. He'd make remarks now and then. Talking about his encounters or something like that. It'd anger Wolfe more and make her laugh.
"It's his fucking penis!" Wolfe called behind him angerly.
Demitri laughed.
"What's wrong Aciel? You don't like knowing about my penis?"
"No Phoenix I don't give a damn about your dick. I'm straight."
"Well I'm offended." He rolled his eyes, fixing his grip on her thighs. "Mackenzie likes hearing about my penis! Don't you Mack?" He yelled suddenly. She blushed smacking him in the back of the head. He just winked up at her and smiled. Wolfe began to shake with rage.
Light started to shine off his arms. A dim smoldering glow. She slid from Demitri's back landing on her feet. She was at Wolfe's side suddenly. She looked up at his face. He was trying to control his breathing. He noticed her, glaring away from her. Avoiding her eyes. She realized he couldn't face her. Why? The collar maybe? The guilt? She couldn't be sure.
"So... Where are you leading us to?" She asked quietly.
"A place. If your trying to suck up to me now so I'll take the ward off. It won't work princess."
She growled."Ward? Are you serious? I try to be civil and you think I'm trying to con you. How original!"
She turned on her heel, storming back. She found Demitri laughing at her.
"What's wrong angel?" He teased. She rolled her eyes. She almost laughed. Nice choice of words. So very ironic.
"He's just so rude. From the first day I met him he was oddly charming but expected everything will go his way. He doesn't rule this world"
"You don't either. In fact I'm sure none of us expected to find each other. He might have thought he was the only one. Like myself.
"I-," She studdered "I .... It didn't occur to me. Why me? What does he want to do with me?"
"I can think of a few things. I mean look at you, your beautiful. " He smiled shyly, rubbing the back of his head.
She frowned at him not knowing if he were being serious. She hadn't seen herself since she'd been up here. Mirrors weren't exactly around that much anymore. Plus she also hadn't had a bath in forever.
He swung his pack off his back suddenly digging in it. He held out a small circular object to her. She took it cautiously. It was a small handmirror. She opened it slowly. Looking at the reflection inside.
She saw small brown eyes framed by long eyelashes. Her lips. The bottom lip fuller than the top. High cheekbones and a thin bridged nose. Her skin and hair were clean of blood and dirt. Probably because of Wolfe. Her hair was long, flowing down her back in waves. Almost to her midback.
