The second they boarded the Falcon, Din grasped Celene.

He pulled him into her, closing his eyes and breathing in the smell of ashes and midnight on her hair.

"Din-"

He drew back allowing the cool calm mask of his face to drop and letting her see every emotion. "I saw you die. I watched you-" His voice broke off.

Her features softened and she gripped him tightly. "I'm sorry, Din. I'm so sorry- I never meant-"

He pressed his forward to hers, cutting her off. "Please, don't ever do that again, Celene. Please."

She was silent for a few seconds before she nodded. "I won't. I promise. I'm sorry."

He let out a breath and drew back. "Now what? You're Empress-"

"Shh," Celene pressed her finger to his mouth. "Let's save that conversation for tomorrow. For now, let's just get off this cursed planet."

He paused. "Alright."

She spun around in the pilot's chair, flipping switches. The ship roared to life.

"Where to, Empress Celene?" Din leaned back in his chair.

A smile tugged at her lips at the title. She faced him. "For the first time... I'm not running from something. I'm free. And I have no idea where to go."

Din reached forward, entertaining their hands. "We'll figure it out, together."

Celene nodded. "Together." She piloted the ship into the sky, breaching the clouds. The empty void of space opened before them, the velvety darkness beckoning. She looked at Din, a grin on her lips. "Hold on." She punched the hyperdrive.

The Falcon shot forward and disappeared into the stars.
