The two teenagers went towards the sea rocks at the beach, searching diligently for anything to consume before they would go back on their pursuance, to finding other people. There on the beach, Hikari would expect some little crabs, but when he notices something sticking on those rocks, he takes into consideration what they are. What was clinging to those rocks were goose barnacles, also called stalked barnacles or gooseneck barnacles. These barnacles are edible, but they're quite scary to look at at first glance.
