My sleep is anything but pleasant.
I went pretty easily at first, but I woke up two times in the night and took forever to go back to sleep. Waking up the third time, I look to my side and Naomi's still asleep. I take a peek at the time on my phone.
[ 5:22 am ]
Not too early... I might as well just stay up.
I creep myself out of bed slowly, in fear I might wake Naomi up. I go in her bathroom to brush teeth, wash my face, and get dressed.
I'm wearing some baggy blue jeans, a black shirt for a boy group I like called "4☆town",
and black vans.I walk out of Naomi's room and down the stairs. There's just one light on: the light in her kitchen. Naomi's mom doesn't work, so she gets up bright and early to cook breakfast for her daughter and husband that do.
"Need any help Mrs. Chau?," I say, walking up to her with a smile. She gets a little startled by my sudden appearance, looking at me with wide eyes then sighs when she realizes who it is. "Good lord Cersi, you scared me," she laughs. "Thank you for the offer, but I'm okay. Besides, what are you doing up so early?" "Eh, didn't sleep well I guess..." I shrugged. "Ah, its probably that mattress, I've been meaning to get a new one for Naomi, she'd been complaining...." She trailed off, focusing on the food she had on the stove. Then she randomly started back up. "Uhh, you can... sit on the couch until everyone else wakes up. If you want." I nodded with a (forced) smile and walked over to their living room to take a seat.
Their couch was a clean and comfortable seat with a nice gray color. They had some rugs that probably costs hundreds, maybe thousands, and a wide TV above a fancy fireplace. Sitting in this room, I felt like someone straight out of one of those shows with the rich celebrities.
I didn't want to bother anything and I felt bored, so I decided to FaceTime Jenna. It didn't ring many times before they answered.
"Cersi, it's like early as fuck outside, why are you calling me?," Jenna said as soon as the call connected. I could tell they were joking, they didn't have any sort of real annoyed tone to their voice. "Jenna, did you forget whose house I'm at?" They suddenly perked up at that mention. "Omigosh Cersi 1. Sorry for swearing 2. TELL ME ALL ABOUT YESTERDAY NIIGHT!!" I just laughed. "Jenn! You're so loud, Ahaha!"
As Jenna smiled, their cheeks flushed a pretty peach color. If I wasn't jealous of Jenna for anything else, I was definitely jealous of that. Usually when white people are embarrassed or overworked, their entire face gets a bright red color, almost like a tomato. With Jenna though, their cheeks blush a nice peach color that showcased more of their freckles and really made them all the more prettier. My face, of course, didn't blush any color at all.
"Okay, okay, I'll quiet down...but really, anything special happen?" "Unfortunately...No. Well, Naomi did tell me she was having 'Complications' with her and Jaiden dating. That's as much as I can tell." "So what, You're hoping Naomi breaks up with him And You'll swoop In and take her?" My face got hot. Maybe it was A wrong thing to wish but..."Kinda yea, I guess." Jenna just giggled. "Well, I'll guess We'll have to wait to see if that works out...but seriously, I usually don't wake up til A whole half hour after this."
"You can't miss only thirty minutes of your sleep?" "I need my beauty sleep." "Not even for me? Your best friend?" I poke my lip out in a pouting face. Jenna slightly smiles before going back to an annoyed look on their face and rolling their eyes. "Fine, fine," I finally say. "I'll let you go...this time. See you at school, Jen Jen. Laters, gators."
