A.N: I am imagining Irene and Greggy around their mid-40s and 50s here, (Irene is around 40 and Greggy around 52). Hello! Please be patient with my writing skills and imagination. I hope you are all doing fine!!
Irene's POV.
"Luis, anak? We are home! We're very sorry. Our meeting took a bit longer than expected, but I brought takeout from your favorite restaurant! Your Aya reminded me to buy this", I shouted while I hurried down the hallway, loaded with several grocery bags, my purse, and a laptop.
I made it to the kitchen just in time before one of the heavy paper bags could slip from my grasp and drop the groceries on the counter in the middle of the room. Usually, Josephine was responsible for the family's grocery shopping, but she is sick and absent due to the severe flu.
On the upper floor, I could hear the door being torn open, followed by the noise of a small elephant herd, while my second child stormed down the stairs.
"Hi Mommy, Hi Aya! About time, I'm starving, "grumbled Luis, a 19-year-old teenager. Luis immediately tore open the plastic bag that contained three boxes of Chinese food. I checked all boxes and chose one.
"There's meat in each of them," complained my youngest, who wrinkled his nose while he pointed accusingly at their food. His long, dark hair fell onto his slightly pimpled forehead, and I made a mental note to arrange a much-needed hair appointment for him.
"You look so starving, hindi ka man lang ba nag paluto kay Manang?" Alfonso asked him while grabbing one of the boxes.
"I was about to, but narinig ko ang sasakyan kaya hindi nalang, guess what? May tournament this Saturday, POLO TOURNAMENT. I texted dad and he said na we should try it. How's that sound? " With Luis's brightened face, I tapped his crown and replied, "Kakalabanin ko dad ninyo, sama ako" I raised my right eyebrow.
I can see their amazement, "What? mommy? Are you sure? Do you know how to play it pala?" Luis surprisingly asked me.
"Yup! You haven't seen one of our photo albums? I placed them there--" Hindi ko na natapos when Gregorio hopped in
"Hello, family!"
"Dad!"
"Daddy!"
"Good evening, Mister! I am quite surprised that you're early, tinakwil kaba ng mga bar sa BGC?". He deserved these words, I still remember back when someone called me on his phone, telling me they were on their way home because he is very drunk. at ang laking gulat ko kasi babae ang tumawag, like excuse me? You are talking to Mrs. Araneta. Hindi mo ba ako kilala?
He shakes his head and replies, "Hello, sweetheart! Hindi kapa tumatakbo panalo kana sakin, hmm? "
Lumaki ang mata ko, because what does he mean? I mean, have I accidentally told him?
"Mom? Ano po ibig sabihin ni dad? " Luis innocently asked me.
The right time to tell them is around the corner, but not now.
"Panalo na daw ako sa laro this Saturday sa POLO, diba hon?". siniko ko siya and my lips formed a threatening smile.
"Yup! Yes, magaling 'tong mommy ninyo maglaro kaya we should prepare ourselves mga anak ha? " He nervously answered and let out a laugh.
"Excuse me, family! I really need to take a shower now, it has been a long day. Dad! Good luck! " Alfonso excused himself and kissed my forehead.
"Me too! Thank you for this unhealthy dinner, mommy! I love you. Dad? Good luck! " Luis was also excused and kissed my forehead.
I immediately checked our sala to see if they were just hiding. Our children are smart, wise in a good way, loving, and caring. They don't like the idea of us fighting and ignoring each other, because the last time they saw us fighting, it traumatized them.
"Am I not included in what you have taken out of the restaurant?" He said this while searching inside the paper bag.
"Yes, but I am cooking something for you." I rolled my eyes, and he immediately smiled.
"Mahal mo talaga ako ano? I love you very much, sweetheart! " He adoringly told me and was about to place his arms around my waist, but then I pushed him.
"Of course, I do. I am your wife, Gregorio. And I know hindi ka nabubusog sa mga takeouts galing sa mga restaurant. I noticed that every midnight, lumalabas ka ng kwarto para mag noodles or something that can be found inside the fridge. " I answered him while preparing the ingredients, I am going to cook his favorite "Lemon Chicken".
"Wag kana mag luto, busog ako." He coldly responded.
I glanced at where he was, and I smirked. "Why? because I did not permit your arms around my waist? Hindi bagay sa'yo magtampo"
"I am just being malambing but you-- you woman!!" He immediately rose from his seat and headed to where I was.
"Don't you ever come near, I tell you!! Don't--" I screamed and burst into laughter.
He knows where my kilitis are kaya naman napalakas ang tawa ko. Seconds after laughing, I noticed that our bodies were too close and I could hear his heartbeat. He touched my chin, and his lips landed on mine. I surprisingly welcomed it. It was a long kiss.
I pushed him, "What was that?"
"A kiss?" He responded while touching his lips, "It's been a while since I last kissed you."
Alam kung namumula ako, I am bad at hiding my facial expressions and emotions. Tipong makikita mo talaga kung wala ako sa mood, galit, masaya, nabwe-bwesit, or whatsoever.
I immediately picked up all the ingredients at agad na akong nagluto. I didn't face him while cooking his dinner at baka tuksuhin pa ako. While chopping the ingredients, I didn't notice that he was not there anymore. Maybe he went upstairs to change his clothes.
25 minutes later, I finished cooking his favorite. I was about to take off my apron when familiar hands blocked my fingers from removing it by myself.
"You should eat now. Ako na dito at baka hahalikan mo nanaman ako, "I nervously told him.
"Takot ka lang eh. Thank you, sweetheart. Boys! Alfonso! Luis! DINNER PART 2 is served! " He screamed. They immediately went downstairs, with a big smile, and commented, "Iba talaga mag alaga si Victoria ano"
"Excuse me? MOMMY!! Hindi Victoria! " I raised my eyebrows and they laughed.
"Kayo talaga! Eatwell, boys! " I sweetly told them.
I excused myself and went to our room. While preparing myself for a shower, I happened to remember my wedding vow "I surrender my everything to you, Greggy." I glanced at one of our picture frames and there I saw our wedding picture. I smiled.
"I am about to give you a second chance, Greggy. Just be patient, "I whispered to myself.
