POV START: CAPTAIN ADAR
I sit at my desk, overviewing the files for our new prisoners. The human seems to have a good record, a mechanic for The Tektonic and parents are Bronze Guard. The heretic on the other hand, appears to be charged with starting a revolt back in her old planet, but as I said before, she should have stayed with her planet. I hear a knock at my door, and I say
"Come in" The door opens and the lieutenant comes in, and he then says
"Evening sir, Commissar wanted to know if you made your decision for the new inmates" I look at the lieutenant and say
"I'm pretty sure every inmate has the same ending" He looks at me confused and I then say
"But I have made my decision. Execute them in a matter of three days" He says back
"Yes sir, will do" He walks out the door. I stand up and walk over to the small table near the corner of the room and pour myself a glass of wine. I walk back to the window behind my desk and look out into the deep abyss of space while sipping my wine and a smirk on my face
POV SWITCH: GEORGE
With the little days we have left on this ship, the guards want us to work on maintenance work until our execution. Me, Eli, Chris and Matthew are ordered to work on engineerings maintenance along with a bunch of other inmates. But why are we working as slaves and not being killed on the spot? I ask that to Chris
"Hey Chris?" I say, and he replies
"Yeah George?" I say then
"Why aren't we being killed? I've heard of violent wars that broke out and all the furries there got killed without hesitation of being sent to a prison. Why didn't we get the same fate?" He looks at me and says
"First off George, do you want to die?" I nod a no and Chris continues
"So why are you worrying about you dying if you don't want it?" I say back
"I'm just saying, why are we being put up for execution and the soldiers aren't? They deserve a chance" Chris says back
"Maybe because our soldiers are what keep our empire strong! So without them we're nothing. The humans don't have time for us so they put us up for execution on a three days notice" I look away and say
"Maybe you're right, we're nothing. And you expect us to escape from this prison?" Chris looks at me and says
"I know we can" I get back to work, but behind my back I could hear guards talking to each other
"Hey you hear about the son of Father Henderson?"
"The Admiral?"
"Hell yeah, people are saying that he's a heretic"
"No fucking way lad, how do you know?"
"Heard rumors about him, saying he fucked a dog"
"A fucking heretic!? No way lad! He'd never do that!"
"Its what the rumors say, but best not to tell anyone"
I feel someone tap my shoulder, and I look next to me and see Eli right next to me. She says to me in a quiet tone
"George, I'm scared" I grab her paw and say
"Why are you scared?" She replies back
"Because I'm not with you" I say back
"But I'll always be with you, day and night. Rain or shine, I'll always be there" She begins to smile and I rub her fur, but a guard yells to us
"Hey! You two! Get back to work!" I slowly let go of her paw and go to an engine near the eastern corner, but in front of me is a guard facing the other way, with his keycard so easy to get. I slowly reach for the keycard, but thats when he turns around and see's me and asks
"What do you think you are doing inmate?" I say back
"Oh me! I was just heading to the eastern engine over there" I point to it and the guard says
"Ok then, go ahead" I quickly dash to the engine and begin working on it, but Matthew comes next to me and says
"Thanks" I say then
"For what?" He replies with
"While you were providing the perfect distraction, I was able to get this" He shows me the guards keycard. I smile back and just then a buzzer rings and all the guards yell out
"ALL INMATES TO YOUR CELLS!" I find Eli and Chris and the four of us walk back to the Prison Sector, with hundreds of other inmates already there. We begin to walk up the stairs, but thats when we see a large crowd gather nearby. We climb higher to get a aerial view and see two inmates arguing, making others a fight is about to start. We could hear the two people arguing
"If it weren't for you we wouldn't be stuck in here!"
"You wanted this to happen by starting the job in the first place!"
"But you lead them to us!"
Soon, one thing lead to another until it lead to a full on fistfight between the two guys. I saw a couple Bronze Guard watch the entire thing unfold but not do a thing about it, until one of the guys hit a guy in the crowd, and soon enough a full on brawl between all inmates broke out, and still the guards did nothing. They watched them fight to the death, like they wanted them to die, but after a few minutes they finally took in and stopped the fight by pointing their guns at the inmates, threatening to fire. Some soldiers carried the corpses and put them all in one pile and burned them all.
I watched the fire burn out and the inmates walking to their cells. Eli tapped my shoulder and said
"Come on, lets head back to our cell"
The two of us walk back in and see Chris and Matthew discussing with each other and Chris turns around and says
"Good you're back. Good news is that we got a bare minimum of items needed to pull off this thing. We've got a crew and guns and all that other shit. So we're all gonna meet at Sub Storage Sector 4 along with everyone else and we're all getting out through the ships port. If we of course get caught, we are all definitely dead." Me and Eli look at each other, but Matthew says
"Don't worry you two, you'll be fine with experts like us" We all head to bed, and I take top bunk this time today. With the lights powering off, I feel something. I feel, vengeance
