Kagome appreciated the companionship that Miroku was offering especially since he wasn't being lecherous at the moment. "How would you handle this if you were in my position?" Her voice was low but loud enough for him to hear. She glanced at him out of the corner of her eye. Perhaps it would have been better if she had fallen in love with Miroku, despite his lechery. He would flirt and ask any woman he met if she would bear his child but she knew that he didn't mean it. She could see that despite his faults he loved Sango even though he didn't want to be serious with her because he didn't know how much time he had left.

"Kagome, I don't know if I would have the capability to love the way you do. You love him even though he's not sure what he wants. He wants you to stay with him, he gets easily riled once Kōga claims you but he himself is stuck between you and a dead woman."

She could feel her eyes beginning to water but she didn't want to let them fall. She didn't want to cry over a situation that she had already cried over too many times. Her tears so far would have been enough to fill a small pond. "How could I fault him? She was his first love? She will always be his first love, but where does that leave me?" her voice was soft as she hugged her knees close as her eyes turned to the fire that blazed after the log Miroku added.
