A shiver ran through Kagome's body and it left her stunned, Miroku's embrace and the heat of the fire meant that she should not have felt a chill.
"What's wrong, Kagome?" Miroku asked, his violet eyes trying to discern the sudden stiffness in her body.
"I'm not sure but something doesn't feel right." Her voice was a whisper as the air around them turned oppressive.
Miroku pulled her tighter into his embrace to both protect and support her from the sudden shift in energies. "You felt it too?"
"Yes I did, and by the pricking of my thumbs, something evil this way comes." Her throat felt tight, and she felt the sudden urge to cry but for the life of her she couldn't understand why.
He rubbed soothing circles on back, "Can you sense what it it?" Of the both of them, she was the one with the strongest spiritual powers even though he was better trained to use his power than she was.
"No, I can't, but I have the feeling that whatever it is intends to destroy us." Her voice was a murmur that only he could hear since they were so close. She was afraid that if she spoke too loud then it would give whatever was headed their way more power.
