Miroku watched the young woman and he wrapped an arm around her shoulder. "You could fault him though. The fact that you have chosen not to shows just how pure and loving you really are."
"I don't think I have a choice." her soft voice was barely above a whisper as she leaned into his embrace.
"Ah, but that is where you would be wrong. Everyone has a choice when it comes to love. You can choose to continue suffering while waiting for him to finally look at you or you can choose to walk away before he breaks you more than he has already."
"Do I really have a choice? I'm not sure I do. It feels like her love for him has been ingrained in me."
He could see the confusion on her face, has this been what was plaguing her all along. He held her tightly as he spoke, "I don't believe that is possible. You two are different people. Your soul is your own not hers. How many years have passed since her death and your birth? How many reincarnations could have happened in that time period?"
"But she is the original..."
"Think Kagome, if her soul reincarnated into you, then she would not be the original, she is also a reincarnation of another person's soul. Just think on it some more when you have the chance. However, love shouldn't hurt this much. While I'll admit it does hurt from time to time it shouldn't make you fell like this. Love is like being enlightened, it's like seeing the world in a different light. Almost as if the colors and sounds of the world were much brighter than they were before."
"Enlightenment, huh? Can I break these chains I feel around my heart?"
