One week later

I stood in the line at Walmart, pregnancy test in hand. Norman was at work, but would be home soon. I tapped my foot anxiously. Right now I was waiting behind a family of three. The dad was handing the items to the lady, while the mother was cooing to a little toddler. The toddler was giggling at the silly faces her mother made. I felt myself to smiling, imagining Norman and I doing that.

When they left, I eagerly handed the cashier my box. She arched her eyebrows at it.

"You excited?" She asked, ringing it up.

"Yeah. I can't wait." I declared, smiling.

"Well, it's alright. Except the potty training stage. Then there's the teen years. That's gonna be fun." She grumbled. I was kinda taken by surprise. Yes I remembered the way I was during my teenage years, but maybe my son or daughter will be different.

"Well, here ya go." The lady muttered, handing me the tiny bag. "That'll be 11.57."

Is it negative? What if it's positive? Will it be a boy or girl? Maybe both!

I smiled at the thought of twins. Then again, I smiled just by thinking of it. Plus, in two weeks, the season premiere meeting will start, and I couldn't wait. Because-

Suddenly, the bathroom door opened. I immediately stood up straight, and I felt my heart break.

Amanda's face was red and her eyes were puffy. Tears stained her cheeks as she shook her head. I let out a defeated sigh. Then I opened my arms for her. She collapsed into them, sobbing. Wrapping my arms around her, I kissed the top of her head.

"It's ok. Shh, it's ok." I murmured, rubbing her back. "Shh, shh."

She continued to sob despite my efforts to calm her. I gently led her to the bed, dragging her into a sitting position. She buried her face in my shoulder, her tears soaking into my shirt.

For the longest time, I held her.
