The drive to the cathedral was quiet, no one said anything. The tension was still thick...
Paolo kept stealing glances at Silas on the back seat.
But Silas stared outside grimly
" What is it?"
His cold tone almost freezes the whole car. Paolo almost jumped out of his seat
" Ye... Yes sir?"
Silas was still looking outside
" You kept staring at me, it's disturbing"
Paolo swallowed, thinking to himself.
' he can see me?'
" I... I, nothing sir " he said instead
Silas ignored him from there, he stared at the new trees planted on the road way to the cathedral. He remembered Sergio telling him something about planting Luciano trees to the cathedral road.
He really wasn't interested
But now seeing the new sprouting greenish... He figured the rest of the family agreed.
When the car came to a sudden halt he still kept on sitting there.
Luca and Paolo exchanged quiet glances. They did this most of times when no one wanted to talk to Silas..
"Er sir..."
Paolo always lost the glancing contest and ended up being the one to ask
Silas turned to Paolo
" We... We are here"
" I can see that" Silas said blankly
After sometime he got out. He looked at the new changes made probably Matteo. He is the one who liked to make new alterations every now and then.
He walked in the cathedral, there were few people each having personal prayers. He sat down in the end row...
If anyone saw him now they'd say he was having a glaring contest with the cross by the altar.
" Perso?"
When Silas turned he met an old man standing beside where sat.
Silas tilted his head left,
" Why would I be lost?"
The old man smiled. " I am from confessing, you should too"
Silas scoffed. " What sins...? "
The old man shook his head then begun walking out. When they arrived at the mother Mary Grotto garden they sat by the bench.
" I didn't see you at the family gathering" Silas said
" I hate your family " he said
" They are your family" Silas pointed out
The old man laughed " then I hate my family"
Silas looked at him " Leo, father is resigning"
"Good for him..."
" You are not curious...?"Silas asked
The man was quiet... Showing disinterest.
Silas sighed " he wants someone to take over, I really thought he'd appoint me, I mean who deserves better than me, but he asked all of us to surprise him so..."
" Why are you telling me this Silas?" Leo frowned
" You are his father--
" Was... I don't want anything to do with you Lucianos... I ... Just What happened to you Silas , I thought you were more than that"
Silas looked away" I changed ... I woke up"
Leonardo shook his head " I can see that"
disappointed in that, he then walked to the grotto
