Lisa was starting to get whiplash from these sudden turns of events. First, she got the mean girl from school (who she thought she hated but now probably had a crush on) to pour her heart out to her about a potentially dangerous stalker.
And now there was this random girl fenagling her way into their tutoring sessions after meeting only a day ago.
Said girl was now basically glued to Lisa's side in the study room, Jennie glaring daggers at the two of them. All Lisa could smell was perfume and undefined tension.
"You're so good at math, Lisa!" Jisoo squealed. "I'm surprised you have to get tutoring at all!"
Lisa laughed nervously. "Ha ha, I'm not that good.
"So..." Jisoo grabbed her arm and trailed a finger down it. Lisa found herself tensing up and blushing at the touch. "Do you have a boyfriend, Lisa?"
"Oh my god, you can leave if you're not going to do any actual math!" Jennie yelled, basically shaking from fury on the other side of the table.
"Oh, come on," Jisoo pouted. "We can take a quick break."
"It's only been like fifteen minutes!"
Jisoo ignored her, looking up at Lisa for an answer.
"Uh...I don't really date guys," Lisa replied.
"Oh! My bad for assuming. Do you have a... girlfriend then?"
Lisa was getting increasingly uncomfortable with this conversation. She wasn't normally shy about talking about her sexuality or relationships, but this girl was coming on so strong that she found herself getting tongue-tied. Lisa ended up locking eyes with Jennie, who seemed uncomfortable, but wasn't interrupting the question.
"No, I don't," Lisa said, looking back at Jisoo.
"Ooh, I see." Jisoo smiled, almost devilishly."
"Do you have someone you like, then?"
Lisa couldn't help but react to the question, blushing.
Yeah, someone in this room right now. She decided to go for a lie for now. "No, not really."
Jisoo's smile widened even further. "Oh, come on, your face is getting all red! You totally like someone!"
"Who is it? We won't tell, right Jennie?"
Oh, God, please...
Jennie seemed to pick up on Lisa's discomfort right away. "Leave her alone, Jisoo, she said she didn't like anybody.
Jisoo pouted. "Lame. I never got any juicy info from you either, Jennie. The only crush I've ever known you to have was on your textboo-"
Jisoo was interrupted by a loud ringtone which made everyone jump. The blonde pulled her phone out and got out of her chair.
"Sorry, I gotta take this. Be right back!"
Jisoo hopped out of the room, leaving Lisa and Jennie alone. Lisa sighed in relief that she was saved from the barrage of questions, but now she was alone with someone who had heard too many of the answers.
"I'm sorry about her," Jennie said. "She's always been extremely nosy."
"Ah, that's alright," Lisa replied. "Although to be honest, she makes me super uncomfortable."Jennie smiled a little, as if she was relieved from Lisa's opinion of the beautiful blonde. "Same here. I never expected she'd invade our tutoring sessions."
"Yeah, it was kinda nice with just the two of us," Lisa blurted out, immediately regretting it. Was that too forward?
Jennie blushed, looking away. "I guess it is easier to deal with one annoying person than two."
Lisa smiled, kind of happy she deflected the comment.
"So, was Jisoo actually your friend back in the day?"
Jennie looked back at Lisa, surprised. Lisa could see the gears turning in her head, and she looked like she was holding back an explosion of opinions. "Hell no!"
She let loose.
"She would always try to show me up and everything! She'd do everything in her power to embarrass me or keep me from getting my way. I've always hated her!"
Lisa blinked, taken aback by the sudden rant. "I see."
Jennie sighed, calming down. "I just didn't want to tell you up front because I thought you'd think I was lying. She has a way of using her looks and shamelessness to get close to people."
Lisa smiled, happy that Jennie seemed to care about what she thought. "Nah, I believe you, she kind of creeps me out anyway.'
"She might tell you...things about me, but just assume they're all lies." Jennie seemed less confident about that statement, averting her eyes and blushing a little.
Based on that, Lisa was kind of curious as to what kinds of things Jisoo would say about her.
There was the sound of a phone vibrating, and Jennie picked up hers. She let out a sigh of relief. "She said she had to go suddenly. Kind of rude, but at the same time, thank God."
"You have her number?" Lisa asked, surprised.
"Only out of necessity. We don't talk."
Lisa fidgeted, a bit nervous all of a sudden.
"Don't you think we should have each other's numbers by now? Especially with the tutoring stuff, it'd make it a lot easier..."
Jennie flushed as well. "Uh...yeah, that's probably for the best."
She gave her phone to Lisa who put her number in.
She decided to be a bit bold and put some hearts next to her contact's name before giving the phone back to Jennie.
Jennie blushed at the action, kicking Lisa's shin under the table. "Oh my god, gross!"
She texted Lisa back so she could save her number as well.
"And don't start texting me unless you need to, I'll block you," Jennie threatened.
Lisa flashed her a wide smile. "Well, you can text me any time you want."
Jennie rolled her eyes. "That time will never come."
The two got to work on math once again, but Lisa could hardly focus. She was feeling unnecessarily giddy with excitement about the most recent development between them.
Oh man, this is getting bad.
