My Sister's Keeper: A TorbinCo Shorty
"Brother, I do not wish to hurt you," My sister stared at me with eyes that pooled with blood. Her bones creaked and her muscles spasmed as the small, bronze key dropped into my hand.
"Sister please..." I cried up at my older sister, she smiled sweetly down at her younger brother.
"I will always be right here when you need me most," She clutched at my hands as her voice churned into something demented, "You call...for me..."She wrenched as her temperature dropped, her voice was less and less of what I knew, "And I...will....s-slaughter...f-for...you my brother!" She rushed to her room, slamming the door closed. I cried as I bolted the padlock. Sealing her away. We had just lost our parents...and now, I was alone.

Years had passed, long and lonely years ached away in this house, but I would never leave. Our parents had passed, and after I sealed away my sister, my eyesight passed too. I had grown familiar with the space, I moved with ease. The outside world had become but a fantasy to me. A fantasy I would dream fondly of as I sipped coffee in the morning. It was another ordinary day that plagued my existence.
My sister changed. Something took over her mind and rotted her. She became a violent shell of what she was, but I could always hear her. She spoke to me when she needed me to hear her. Sometimes her words were nothing audible. I always tried to speak with her, hoping one day she would answer back to me like the old days. She never did. I made my way through the day as I always did. The evening greeted me with the sounds of the TV and a warm shower before bed. It became a stormy night, thunder cracked like a whip in the sky as lightning illuminated the faults of the world. Did my sister stare out of her window like in the old days? Did she still love the rain?
"Brother..." My sister's voice whispered in my mind. She woke me from a dream of before when we were all together and happy. "There are people, I smell their evil from here. They wish for an easy target," I shot up in bed as the door creaked open downstairs. My blood froze inside me. I could hear my heartbeat throbbing in my ears.
"I'm afraid..." I whimpered softly in the dark.
"Calm my brother," She could not be heard by them. She spoke to my mind like a filthy secret of the family, "Unlock the door and hide in your room," My hands were shaking. I froze in fear of the moment as I heard several footsteps rummaging through the house, "NOW!" I jumped up from my bed, grabbing the key from the drawer on my nightstand. I had not opened this door in years! The lock was cold in my hands, and I heard each mechanic turn and work as I popped it open.
I followed her directions and went back to my room, closing the door and hiding in the closet. Her door opened slowly with an eerie creak. I whimpered to myself trying to stifle my noise as much as possible. The aged floorboards creaked under her feet.
"There's someone upstairs dude! Look!" I heard a man talk as they noticed her. They started debating disgusting things they would do to her. I heard it all. I listened to the vulgar whistles and calls at her. My sister made no sound.
"They told me a blind man lived here, what the hell is she doing? Come here baby girl, let Daddy show you better riches than this grungy house!"
"Stop man, something looks wrong with her! Why is she just staring at us like that?" I shook in the closet, they knew about me here.
"Man...I'm getting out of...." Silence fell through the house before violent screams rang through my ears. The stomach-turning noises of devastation echoed below. They scrambled and panicked as she tore through them. I was happy, at this moment, my eyes were broken. I stayed silent as tears streamed down my face.
I felt like I sat there for hours. The noise eventually faded to nothing. The screams became still silence yet again. There was nothing but her footsteps coming back up the stairs.
"Brother..." Her voice disgusted me. I did not run to her as I wanted to, "Come out...please, your big sis has cleaned up her mess..." She looked around for me, but never entered my room. She stopped at my door and spoke out to me from behind it, "Brother...i-it makes m-me...sad that you abandoned me..." The familiar wrench of her bones gripped the air. It took me back to years ago. I did not listen to her. I just waited until she went on her way. She would not hurt me, but I could not tempt my fate.
"Brother? I g-guess...I shall return home...lock...the door behind me..." And her door closed softly behind her after those words. When I finally emerged, the house smelled pleasant. I guess she did clean up her mess. I locked her door once again and put the key back in the drawer.
My days continued as normal after that, but I had confidence in my safety. A few days later on the news, they reported a group of wanted men missing. Their whereabouts were unknown. Any information came with a handsome reward, but how do I explain that my sister probably ate them?
