Chapter 18
"Gosh! I'm so excited!" She put on her seatbelt.
"It's been a long time na rin since the last time we visited your relatives sa province."
We were on our way to my grandma's place. Mom was sitting in the shotgun seat besides Tatay Ernesto, our family driver. Behind them was me and my Ate Sofie. And on our back there were Mikaella and Hope who were busy talking about their plan once we got there.
The sky was still dark because it was only four in the morning when we leave the house. I was a bit sad that I can't have Claudia in this travel dahil baka mawala siya.
"Kuya, did you bring your powerbank?"
"You didn't bring yours?"
"I forgot eh," she replied and I opened the zipper to get my powerbank. "Thanks, Kuya."
I put on my travel pillow and closed my eyes. I'm still sleepy. They woke me up too early so I still need to rest. My body count was already ruined because of series of late sleeps due to studying. And I think I need this weekend vacation. When I woke up hindi na buildings ang nakikita ko kundi malawak na taniman ng pinya. I know we're here.
"Gosh ang ganda ng view!"
I looked back at the girls behind me and I saw my sister capturing photos from the window of the van. Mikaella was also taking a pictures from the view on her side. They looked so happy and fascinated of what they were seeing. I put my headphones to listen to music, perfect pair for travel.
"Aw, I missed this fresh air," my sister uttered as we stepped out the van.
I felt both euphoria and torment as I looked around. I was happy because finally we will see our relatives again. But sad also because this place reminds me of my dad who passed away when I was only four. We created good memories in this place too. He loves us so much that he even built a tree house for me and Ate Sofie.
Daddy, I miss you so much...
"Hala! Is that your new shoes, Kuya Travis?"
"Yeah..."
Halika rito!"
Naghabulan kaming dalawa paikot.
She was facing her back against me so I wiped the mud to her face easily. Pinakawalan ko na siya pagkatapos niyon.
"Yuck! Iww! Kadiri, Travis!"
Tawang-tawa ako sa reaksyon ng mukha niya.
"Huwag mo kasi akong inaasar."
