My eyes open as I let out a scream, the previous events still fresh on my mind as I look around. I am in my bed, sweat now covering every inch of my body and and soaking into the sheets as my chest heaves up and down. My legs are warm as my hands caress the sheets, gripping onto them to feel the wet sheets below me; making sure this is real. My head falls into my hands and my eyes close, a sigh leaving my lips as I try to calm down.
After a moment I begin to look for my phone to check the time, feeling it under the cover a few inches from me. Turning it on, I see it is 8:55.
"Oh shit." I drop my phone and leap from the bed, running to the bathroom as fast as my weak legs would let me. Running the shower I set it to warm and strip my clothes, jumping in only to rinse off the sweat on my skin. The warm water runs over my legs, the warmness now fading from them. After a few moments of soaking myself beneath the running water I turn it off and grab my towel. I quickly dry off and wrap the towel around me, walking over to my dresser drawers and finding an outfit.
I pick out a pair of high waisted jeans, a light pink under shirt and a marvel semi crop top. By the time I finish my eye liner I hear a knock at the door. I walk out of my room and down the stair to the front door, unlocking it and opening it slowly. I see Theo facing the other way and turn to me as the door opens, his soft smirk on his lips; and the look of a few hours of sleep. The rain still softly beating down behind him as a light mist still lingers against the trees.
"Hey good morning." Theo says as I open the door wider. "Ready to go?" He asks.
"Yeah just let me grab my keys and stuff." I tell him before walking back towards the stairs and up to my room, grabbing my phone and keys before heading back down stairs to Theo. I slide on my shoes and see he is standing near the top step as I return, closing the door as I step out and locking it behind me. "All set." I say as I walk over towards him, following his move down the steps and to his chevy. I open the passenger door and slide inside, closing the door behind me.
I can see Theo in my peripheral climbing inside the driver seat and sliding on his seat belt, bringing the car to life as he turns the key in the ignition. I do the same and put on my seat belt before he puts it in drive, the windshield wipers flicking the light rain off the windshield as the car travels down the paved road.
"Did you sleep well?" Theo asks me as he has one hand on top the wheel and one on the bottom of it, his eyes on the road.
"Uh yeah." I say as a comb a strand of my damp hair behind my ear, not really wanting to lie but not wanting to tell him either. Theo nods as he drives, passing the bar and my parked car. "Um," I begin to say before he cuts me off.
"I thought we could get breakfast. If that's okay with you." He tells me as he drives the short distance to the diner to the left.
"Oh, y-yeah that's fine." I say as the chevy pulls onto the dirt parking lot, finding a spot beside a rusty old red beat up pick up truck. Theo puts it in park as I un-click my seat belt, the engine dying as he turns off the ignition. We step out as the rain softly beats down on the dirt parking lot, small puddles throughout as we closes the car doors and make our way to the small structure. I open the door as I make it there first and hold it open for Theo as I stop briefly right inside the door. The smell of coffee and bacon passes my nose as Theo steps inside behind me.
"Thanks." He says before shaking off the rain from his hair. "Let's find a seat." Theo begins to walk ahead of me and walks to a booth by the large glass window. "Breakfast and a view." He declares as his hands gesture towards the vacant booth, his smirk lightly visible on his lips.
"Looks good." I smile softly before sitting down, seeing him do the same. Before we could say another word an older lady in her maybe late 30s approach us, wearing a white apron and holding a note pad. Her blonde hair is pulled back in a tight ponytail as her red lipstick stretches with her soft smile.
