I awake the next morning to my alarm ringing loudly as I try to reach for it on the side table near my bed. My hand hits the button and the noise falls silent. An arm snakes around my waist and pulls me towards a warmth mass behind me, his skin warm against mine.
"Good morning." I hear Theo's voice deep and groggy against my ear, my eyes still closed as he pulls me close.
"Good morning." My words are soft as I nuzzle into his arm that is around my figure. I feel a very loose fitting shirt draped over my torso, and nothing else but my panties, the blankets warm against me.
"Coffee?"
"Ooh. Yes please." I say as I slowly begin to move, turning to face him and prop myself up on my elbow.
"What are your plans today?" He asks as his blue eyes look to mine.
"I have to meet with grandma's lawyer here soon. Then call the containers company and sort that out." I pause as I take in a breath. "Then, I don't know."
"Well, we could meet the guys for lunch if you'd like?"
I nod my head gently. "Yeah, we could do that." I see Theo half smile before he leans up and presses his lips to mine, soft as he holds them there. Only pulling away after a moment to look at me.
"How about that coffee?" He asks as I watch him search my face, looking for the answer there I suppose.
"Two sugars please." I try to hold back a laugh as Theo smirks.
I watch as he sits up and climbs off the bed. "Yes ma'am."
"Thank you." I say as I watch him walk from around the bed and to the door.
"Yeah yeah." Theo waves his hand towards me as he leaves the room and makes his way down stairs. I sit up completely and step off the bed, picking up my phone and checking the time; nine fifteen. Plenty of time until I have to meet with Mr. Bradshaw.
I walk over to my bathroom and look myself over in the mirror, brushing my teeth as I do so. I don't take too much time after using the bathroom and walk down stairs to the kitchen, seeing a waiting Theo with his back to me. He is standing in the living room, facing the t.v. as I approach.
The words of the news reporter draws my attention towards the television. "The body was found this morning by two local fisherman as they were enjoying their morning. Can you tell us more of what you saw?"
"Well, we were sitting here with our lines casted waiting for a bite when we saw a large mass near the rocks over there." The older gentleman points towards the rock wall lining the pier and water. "We didn't know what it was. But a bad feeling came over me when I saw it, so I had to call it in "
My breath catches in my throat as it shows the rock wall and pier, displaying the last place I ever wanted to think of again. My heart sinks to my stomach as I turn away, my hand clasping over my throat. It feels as if every organ is turning and twisting inside me as I run to the hallway bathroom, kneeling by the toilet just in time. My throat stings as whatever was in my stomach last resurfaces. Hands are on my face and pulling back my hair as I vomit again.
"Hey." I hear Theo behind me as he holds back my hair, the gratuitous feeling rilling up yet again as more proceeds to come. Taking in a breath, I exhale slowly. "It's okay." His voice trails as I lean back and close the lid, allowing another breath to enter my lungs. "Hang on."
Theo stands and takes the rag that is hanging on the wall beside the sink and wets it before handing it to me. "Thank you." I say as I take it from him and wipe my mouth, trying to rid anything left.
"I'm sorry you had to see that." He speaks soft as he kneels down beside me.
"It's okay.." My eyes fall to the floor as I sit there, collecting my thoughts as they fly by and back again, not able to concentrate on just one.
