I awake to the sound of the rain still pattering against the window, my eyes opening to an empty bed; making me wonder if last nights events actually occurred or not. A soft sigh leaves my lips as I sit up in bed, rubbing my eyes before I check my phone. Seeing the time is five pass eight, I slowly make my way out of bed.
My feet hit the hard wood floor as I make my way to the bathroom, doing as nature calls before washing my hands and leaving the room. I exit my room and see the guest bedroom door closed as I walk to the stairs. Taking every step carefully, I make my way down and into the kitchen were I smell coffee. Rounding the corner I see Theo standing at the kitchen counter.
"Good morning." Theo says as I walk over to him, seeing a fresh brew of coffee in the coffee pot.
"Good morning." I say as he hands me a mug.
"I thought you'd like some coffee before heading out." I smile as I see the black liquid in my cup, steam rising from it.
"Thank you." I lightly blow on it. I contemplate on breaking the ice and asking him if he what happened last night actually did happen but, I persist. Instead I take a sip of my coffee and let the hot liquid run down my throat, still not as hot as it was the night before.
"You're welcome. You're gonna need it." Theo says before he takes a sip of his own coffee. "Are you okay?" He asks me.
"Yeah, I'm fine." I say before taking another sip.
"Good. Because after last night I just wanna make sure." So maybe it did happen.
"Yeah, I have nightmares sometimes. It's not a big deal." I tell him as I lean against the counter, bringing the cup to my lips and taking another sip.
"Leksa. You were terrified." Theo says as I swallow, another sip going down. "You said you drowned and I almost believed it." He tells me as he sets his cup down on the counter.
"So did I." I say as I swallow the hot liquid, letting it run down my throat as Theo stares at me, then at the floor.
"I'm here." His voice is softer now as I look up to him. I place my coffee mug down on the counter as I look back to Theo, his blue eyes never leaving me. I decide to go leave and change, but before I can I see Theo close the distance to me and cup my cheeks in his hands.
"Remember that." His voice is low as he brings his face inches from mine, his breath against my lips.
"I will." I say before his lips collide with mine, my hands resting against his sides as my heart beats against my skin. The kiss lasts a moment before he pulls away, but still staying inches from my face.
"Go get ready. Your mother is waiting." Theo tells me before he releases his hands from my cheeks.
"Yeah." I muster out as I regain my sense, and my heart finally steading at a nice pace. "Yeah, I'll be right back." I turn and walk away, heading up the stairs and back into my room before closing the door behind me. Walking to my bathroom I flip on the light and step over to my shower, turning on the knobs to warm it up. I take my time as I shower, letting the events of last night play in my head. After a while I turn off the shower and grab my towel, drying myself off.
I exit my bathroom with my towel wrapped around me as I search my drawers, finding high waisted black legging and a low cut grey shirt. Before I leave my room I apply my eye liner, drying my hair to the best of my ability with my towel as I grab my phone and leave my room. Seeing it is eight thirty I decide it is best to leave now. Arriving in the kitchen, I see Theo standing in the same place I left him.
"Hey." I say to break the silence. "I'm about to leave but, you can stay or do whatever you'd like. I only ask you to lock the door when you leave." I walk over to my cup of coffee sitting on the counter and take a sip.
