Many moons ago, I received my degree in journalism (with a minor in writing). Before moving to North Texas in 2010, I was a reporter and columnist for several newspapers in New York.
Journalism, while somewhat fulfilling, did not afford me the absolute creativity in writing that I so desperately wanted. Endless thoughts kept swimming around my busy head, and I needed a much better outlet for them.
As such, I decided to pursue my dream of crafting dark, thrilling, gritty romance novels.
Maybe my INFJ personality type had something to do with it, but I sought a deeper purpose in life through art. I wanted to share my passion, real life experiences, and innermost thoughts. There was so much that I wanted to discuss.
And, amazingly enough, people actually gave a damn about what I had to say.
My debut novel ARROWS & ANCHORS caught fire and was invited to the Paid Stories program in 2019. Since its inception in 2014, the A&A series has received more than a million reads.
With a hope to evoke pure, genuine, visceral emotion from my readers, I always attempt to strike a balance between fairy tale happiness and real life heartache in my books.
As the line in Vanilla Sky goes, "without the bitter, baby, the sweet ain't as sweet."
When I'm not ripping out readers' hearts and stitching them back together again, you can find me volunteering with stray animals every night, writing song lyrics, swooning over Edgar Allan Poe, designing all sorts of graphics, making book trailers on YouTube, communicating via Tony Stark GIFs, eating tabouli, and drinking copious amounts of Moroccan mint tea.
This will be my second time participating as a Bootcamp Mentor, and I can't wait to be inspired by all of you! Let's do this!
