"Get dressed. I wanna take you somewhere." I tell Kasey, the next day when I get back from dealing with my Jeep at the mechanic all morning.

I walk over to the window where Riah threw the brick through and smile. It's finally been replaced and my car is back up and running too. Now I'm ready to take Kasey out, just the two of us.

"I need way more notice than you coming in here telling me to get dressed, girl. My hair ain't done. Zaylee isn't even ready." Kasey says and rolls her eyes like she always does.

I sit next to her on the couch while she feeds Zaylee and admire her messy hair and sweat pants.

"She's stayin' here. My momma gon' come watch her." I tell her.

Kasey opens her mouth to say something but I cut her off.

"So, get dressed. Be ready in an hour."

Surprisingly, Kasey's ready to go an hour later when momma shows up. Even though she says her hair isn't done, she looks gorgeous to me. She's wearing a pink sweater, tight blue skinny jeans and her natural curls look more like a ginormous Afro.

When we're in the car, I can't help but smile to myself because she's so damn cute.

"What, Sapphire? Where we going?" Kasey asks as she puts her seatbelt on and glances behind her. The backseat is empty and I made sure to keep it that way because I figured she wouldn't like to be surprised and I was right.

"You'll see."

She smacks her teeth and sits back, a smile resting on her lips as I back out the driveway.

It's been a while since I went on a date and I want it to be special to her. So I had Mercedes help me set everything up at Central Park without leaving a trace of evidence of my plans in my car.

Hopefully Kasey likes what I have planned and she sees I really do want her to be mine.

My heart's beating close to out of my chest by the time we get to the park. It's so easy to ignore everybody and everything else going on around us when Kasey's eyes fall on the picnic basket.

Mercedes grins, sends a quick wave and then takes off quietly.

"We're having a picnic?" Kasey asks as a blush covers her cheeks.

"You like it or it's too corny?"

Her smile widens as we sit down in front of the picnic basket. I got butterflies in my stomach, I'm so nervous but I don't acknowledge them.

"Nah, it ain't too corny at all." She gushes and then finally meets my eyes. Instead, I watch every move Kasey makes as she takes in her surroundings.

"Good. 'Cause after we eat, I got somethin' else planned for you."

Kasey folds her arms and her smile grows as I pull out plates and napkins. When I reach in the basket and pull out her favorite, Wingstop, she gasps and then squeals excitedly.

"Oh my goshhhh, 'Phire!!"

I melt when she jumps up and down like a lil kid.

"You remembered what I get, foreal?"

"10 buffalo classic wings with ranch and some fries." I mock her as best as I can and that makes her giggle and swat at me like I'm an annoying lil fruit fly.
