Chapter 1

June 25th. 1987. // 8am

"I feel like I'm waiting for someone that isn't going to happen."

That's what Will always thought about, when he saw Mike and Eleven being together.

Infact, Will has liked Mike from the first moment the taller boy asked him to be his friend at the swings. It took him some years to realise those feelings for his best friend and he was happy with those feelings until Mike started dating El. Now those feelings just felt like a burden. Mike barely spent time with Will anymore, it felt like he has lost his bestfriend but he had to act like everything was okay, I mean it would be so selfish to not be happy for your closest friend having a girlfriend, wouldn't it?

Summer holidays have started some weeks ago.

The whole party was heading to starcourt mall to watch a movie in the cinema. Max, Lucas and Dustin were talking in the front while El and Mike were in the back, holding hands and just laughing and giggling the whole time. And Will? Well Will, he was somewhere inbetween, just staring on the ground while following the rest.

He felt so sick about all of this, all this girlfriend-talk, it felt like he didn't even exist to the others anymore. Especially to Mike. He didn't have a proper conversation with him in a while anymore.

Soon they arrived at Scoops-Ahoi, Lucas hit the small bell, to be greeted by a blonde girl with a funny sailor suit. She grinned and yelled "HEY DINGUS YOUR CHILDREN ARE HERE!!!"

The following action was an annoyed Steve hasting out of the back door. "What do you want?"

Some minutes later.

All of them were sitting in a dark and crowded cinema-room. El next to Mike, Will following and on the other side were Dustin, Lucas and Max. Of course Will was asked to bring all the snacks in a backpack. He took it off his back and unzipped the zip. Everyone grabbed out what they needed: coke, chips, chocolate bars and so on.

He sighed in frustration and angled his head towards the big screen.

God it's so humiliating to sit inbetween couples and watch them hold hands. Gross. Just try to focus on the movie Will, don't pay attention to them, they're not worth it to be annoyed about anyways.

All of a sudden, he got pulled out of his thoughts by a tap on his shoulder. It was Mike.

"Hey Will" the taller boy whispered. "Huh?" the brunette whispered back. He couldn't help but have this weird feeling in his stomach as soon as Mike touched his shoulder and called out his name.

"Are you alright? you're being so quiet this whole time."

Will couldn't believe what he had just heard. Did Mike seriously care about his well-doing after ages?
He weakly nodded and answered

"I'm doing okay"

What followed was a geniue smile from the freckled boy, which made Will's heart melt. He returned the smile and went back to focusing on the movie.

He looks so pretty with his blue sweatshirt and his black curly hair. What if I just leaned my head on his shoulder?

NO WILL ARE YOU INSANE!?

But I'm his best friend, he wouldn't mind, wouldn't he!?

He has a girlfriend you douchebag!

"Ah yeah right.." Will mumbled. He tried his best to keep his focus on the movie but either way, he couldn't help but feel this overwhelming sadness cross his body and just remained his head lifted.
