Chapter 3: The changed past

you woke up by the sun shining thru the curtains. you already felt a lot better and stood up, looking for something to eat. you were actually starving. you found the kitchen quite quickly and walked in, only to see captain Rogers and Bucky sitting on the table, they both look at you with big eyes. "do i have something on my face?!" you ask them irritated. "good morning to you too, didn't know you where till here" captain Rogers said to you. "believe me if i could i would be out of here way sooner" you say as you grab some breakfast. "are you feeling better?" Bucky asked you. you still struggled with communicating with him, it felt weird. "i'm feeling better, thanks" you said in the most monotone voice you could muster up. then Natasha walks in "hey are you feeling better?" she asked you. "yes, a lot thank you" you say to her in a more friendly tone. "so she doesn't hate everyone" captain Rogers said sarcastically as he hears you talk to Natasha. "only the people who deserve it" you say to him without looking in his direction.

"morning" Tony said walking into the kitchen "what are you still doing here?" he asked irritated at you. "i asked her to stay for the night" Natasha answered for you. "why?" Tony asked looking at Natasha now. "because she needed the rest" she said looking at you. "i'm already on my way out, so don't worry about me anymore" you said, ready to walk away when you spot an space ship, shaped like a donut, in the air. 

"shit, no this can't be happening" you say panic rising in your voice. "what now" Tony asked you. "this is not supposed to happen yet, shit" you say looking worried at them "we changed the fucking future". "you told me it couldn't" captain Rogers said. you look at him with an angry look, how were you gonna fix this. "no,no fuck" you said looking around you for some sort of sign this wasn't happening right now. "calm down what's going on?" Natasha asked worried. "d-do you see that space ship, right there?" you ask her pointing at it, hoping to god it was just your imagination. "holy shit, what is that" she says as everyone goes to look at it. "that thing, shouldn't be here, it should have appaired a month from now" you tell them. "so, what do we do now?" Tony asked you, worried all of a sudden. "i don't know, i wasn't prepared for this" you say looking at him worried now. "okay then, what happens, do we beat it. how, what?" Tony asks you. "i'm not supposed to tell you, i already fucked things up by what i told you yesterday because there is that fucking spaceship in the air THAT SHOULDN'T HAVE BEEN HERE YET!" you yell at him, in full panic mode now. "shit this is bad" you say looking at the device around your wrist, thinking of a solution. "what if you go back a day or 2 and don't tell us?" captain Rogers said. "that's not how time travel works genius" you say to him sarcastically. "sorry, i was just trying to help" he said. "well i don't need 'your' help" you said to him irritated. 

"okay, we just need to follow what happens on that day, it's just a month earlier, that's not gonna change much right. alright, uhm so. you" you said pointing to Tony. "you go fight those aliens who come out of that space ship with the hulk and doctor strange. and you, wait" you said looking at the rest of the team. "why are you here, you're not supposed to be here. you are supposed to be in Wakanda, and the rest of you are on the run" you say confused. "i came back from Wakanda months ago" Bucky said confused. "yeah and the Sokovia accords got destroyed a half year ago or so" Natasha said. "no" you say under your breath "how, well shit" you were confused, how could things have changed when you weren't even here yet. 

at that moment a bright light blinds all of you before you hear a big explosion going off, and aliens storm the building. "what's supposed to happen now?" Natasha asks you. "i don't know, i don't think this happened" you say. "guess we're just gonna have to fight them" captain Rogers said grabbing his shield and starts to hit the aliens. the rest of the avengers join in quickly. you quickly take a few steps back to watch the fight from the distance. you thought long and hard, this isn't how they told you it went. no iron man, doctor strange and spiderman should have been taken to space. and the rest would meet up in Wakanda, but apparently that already happened. well only the Wakanda part not the taken to space part. "Kage watch out!" you hear someone yell, you look up and see a alien charge towards you. you just stood there frozen until his head was cut off by a flying shield. you breath out in relieve.

more and more aliens run into the building and you are forced to join the fight. you fought for what felt like an hour, but eventually you killed all aliens, and the space ship had disappeared. you were all sitting down in the Livingroom, trying to catch your breaths. "so what now?" Tony asked looking at you "any idea how the future could change?". "no" you simply say, looking around the room, everyone looked at you. "so who is doctor strange?" Tony asked. "of course" you sigh "guess you haven't met him, maybe you'll never meet him now" you say thinking hard. "you do know spiderman right?" you ask him. "yeah i do" Tony answers almost in a whisper when he looks down. wait did he look sad? "what did he do?" Tony said looking up with teary eyes. "wait, what happened to spiderman?" you ask him confused. "he, he died. some robber shot him, while he was trying to stop him" Tony tells you. "wait, what. he isn't supposed to die, he's...no" you say softly. did this mean he would be dead when you would go home. how did that happen. you feel tears in the back of your eyes but you didn't allow yourself to cry, not here, not in front of them. "you knew him?" Natasha asks you. "yeah, i" you say remembering you can't tell them any detail from the future. "we need to fix this shit" you say walking out of the room.

you walked thru the halls finally letting a few tears roll over your face. remembering how Peter used to take care of you when your dad just died. how he would make sure you wouldn't do stupid shit, like going after his killers. you walk into what looks like a training room and just punch the boxing bag a few times. how could things get so fucked up, you didn't interact with anything that could have changed the future right. you wondered, maybe you weren't the only one that traveled back in time, what if they sent more agents to do so, maybe because you didn't come back on time. you punch the boxing bag one more time and it flies through the air, landing with a loud thud, on the ground. 

"you're strong, i noticed that when we fought the aliens the other day" captain Rogers said to you, as he walked in. "so mind telling me what's going on?" he asked, a bit of a sweet tone in his voice, like he just couldn't accept you didn't like him. "nothing that's your business" you say coldly. "well it kinda is" he says sitting down, watching you grab the boxing bag and hanging it back. "so, what are you, alien, experiment, super soldier?" he asks out of the blue. you lock eyes for a second in shock. what did he just say "no" you reply looking away, lying. "i'll figuere it out myself than" he says smiling kindly. why, why was this man still so friendly to you, even tho you treat him like he doesn't exist. you give him a puzzled look, trying to figure out if this was part of his plan, or if he just genuinely cares. he grins as he sees your face. "you know, i have no idea why, but i feel like you're not showing us the real you. but i'm gonna figure you out eventually" he says before he begins to walk toward the door of the gym. "oh they asked for you in the meeting room by the way" he says, mentioning for you to follow him.

you walked behind him to the meeting room, not saying a word to him, still giving him the silent treatment, even tho it began being hard to see the person in front of you, as the same man from the story you heard. how could this man be the same, what if the story you heard wasn't the whole story or was he just acting nice now, only to stab you in the back too, like he will do in the future. "found her" his voice brings you out of your thoughts as the both of you walk into the room. 

"so Kage, tell us everything you can, we need to make a plan fast. before the whole future changes for good".
