ADAM
Oh eve, Eve cried out, you hurt her! She rushed to the small little lion.
Eve was upset with him; she could have eaten your leg off if she wanted I just saved you.
We have to go help them, all of them. They must feel as we do, right?
I guess, eve looked angered with him. But they are dangerous. We need to find God and figure out what is happening to Eden. Can we do that first? My voice was raised and a harsh tone crept in but I tried to stay calm, cool and unafraid. But eves eyes darted back to his. The animals were always her friends and she cared for them greatly, giving them up even if it was temporally was going to be difficult.
I cannot believe you are asking me to choose you over them! She yelled storming off slowly as she again realized that her leg still hurt.
I cannot believe this. I cannot believe her, I repeat in my head as I follow her.
You are hurt eve. I call and she stops.
Hurt she says aloud but doesn't face me so I walk to her and face her fully. What is hurt? Before I can answer she continues and why does you what it is?
I'm not quite sure, but I feel as though I know a lot of things, new things, like hurt and pain, the things you are feeling in your leg. She nods and looks back to the redness oozing out of her.
We should wrap it so it stops bleeding.
Bleeding? She asks, I have all the answers my brain churned with information.
The red stuff, is blood, it's because you were hurt and you are in pain because you are still bleeding. We need to fix you. I have all the answers. I can't help but smile, I'm greater than the animals. Eve needs me and I can help her.
EVE
Adams acting different. Strange maybe, he's different from what I remember even just a few moments ago. He is taller, more ridged, and something about his face was so beautiful now in a way I had never noticed before.
Eve is that to tight, Adam said pulling a vine tightly around my leg to stop what he called blood. That's fine Adam I reply and let him tie off the vine around my thigh. When he stands he is so close to me, his eyes a deep blue like the sky, also so beautiful.
What's another word for beautiful I say aloud not really asking but hoping he has a word because he is beautiful but he is so much more.
A smile pierced his face and eve wanted to smile with him forgetting the pain and the craziness that is happening in Eden.
We should move somewhere safer, maybe higher up or-
There's a hollow tree I would go to and sing I say absent mindedly. I can't take us there. I grasped his hand and lead him down a narrowing path.
Nothing looks the same, I say confused and frustrated. Adam has been saying new words as they walk and what he thinks they mean. And right now I'm frustrated.
Left, or maybe right or maybe-
Eve! Adams voice made me stop and turn to him. We can't keep wandering, who knows what's out there?
Well we do. I say so mater of factly it surprises me to see Adam laugh at the statement. What? I question crossing my arms over my chest, I am no longer smiling and Adam must see the frustration on my face because he stops laughing.
Oh I'm sorry, eve. There's that word again I think and it annoys me even more, he annoys me.
We do know what's out here in Eden. But we don't know what has become of Eden since everything started changing.
